How to best sell an original piece of artwork
This original oil painting was done by Emile Gruppe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emile_Gruppe).
The painting was appraised at a gallery in Sonora, CA in 2011 for $12K. I have done some initial research and I see Gruppe’s paintings for sale on-line (Emile Albert Gruppe Artworks | artnet), at several galleries, e.g., Kodner Gallery, St. Louis; Pierce Galleries, Nantucket, MA; International Art Acquisitions, Rochester, NY and Pocock Fine Art, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and even eBay ( What is the best way that we should try to sell the painting? Anything we should know before starting the process? Pitfalls or scams to avoid? The painting is currently located in the Bay Area, CA.

Perhaps a good question for one of the galleries listed. Unless you’re shooting for absolute top dollar, I’d consider letting one of them sell it on consignment. They have access to the market and are far less likely to get scammed.
Just a thought.
