What’s everyone doing for a haircut?

I know it’s small potatoes vs what is going on in the world, but what’s everyone doing for a haircut? It’s been about five weeks since my last one, I need a haircut and I can’t find an open shop. No word on when they’ll open up.

I remember the Flobee (so?) and looked at Amazon for an electric trimmer to do it myself. I’m sure it wouldn’t be pretty.

So what’s everyone doing?

I got a #2 just before the shtf.

Do you know what a #2 is?

If so, you'll know I'm still in good shape haircut-wise.

I did trim my burns a little myself just to maintain a little decorum.

Almost Cut My Hair

It's a lot longer now. No worries.

MrsWD is getting stressed. Her gray is showing and she got it cut short last fall so it is medium short and gray/brown. She says it needs attention. I told her I thought she looked cute - like a Brillo pad on a stick.
I'm sleeping in the TV room this week.

I've been cutting my own hair for the last two or three years.

Really, I can't tell the difference between my own hair cuts and a bought one. Other than it saves me $50

AND occasionally I'd come home with a really f'd haircut, so that has stopped. It's not hard to do and only takes 15 minutes. I do most with the scissors and just use the buzzer for up the back.

Nothing... I'm retired. I don't need to be presentable for nobody. Imagine Shaggy from Scooby Doo with grey hair.

Flowbee might work for you, but I'm in no rush.

Just letting it grow. I had a decent cut right before getting stuck at home.

I have been contemplating buying a year's worth of haircuts from my barber (to help him out).

My wife has been cutting my hair for like 20 years. Had a lady in Texas that did good job. Moved to California and could not find anyone after about half dozen tries. She bought a pair of clippers and that was that. Have worn out a few blades.

Wahl #2 and buzz away. Been giving mysel self-inflicted haircuts for 10 years. Only needed a bandaid once. Super short hair takes just about zero care.

Wow Bill, $50 for a cut (assuming you are including tip in that)? I have 2 local places that charge $15 and I tip $5, so $20 out the door. A number 3 trim on back and sides, scissors cut to match on top. 15 minutes from sitting in chair to paying. Very tidy and even. They are great. So back to the OP, my wife did a quick top trim with scissors and razor to clean up my neck. Getting uncomfortable with the length at this point, but I can see 60 rotations around the sun in the near horizon, so I'm happy to complain about needing a hair cut

Same, been cutting it myself for probably 25 years. Gotten pretty good at it and like you say, no miscommunication wrt how much to take off, etc. I used to get it cut at a fantastic school for hair stylists in college and just paid attention to what the instructors were telling them, it ain’t rocket science. The back might suffer a little compared to a pro job but I don’t care.

So, no difference in my life. One of the only exceptions to my self service cuts is my youngest cousin in Mpls who went to the aforementioned school. I can’t wait to see her when it’s ok to mix w people again, probably get a haircut. She just survived a gnarly battle w Covid19, (young single parent w 2 ankle biters), I was thinking that it wouldn’t matter safety-wise to visit her because she’s already had it and healed so no transmission danger in either direction(?)

I could probably buy a nice used 911 w the money I’ve saved in 25 years if I’d been smart enough to set it aside every cut. Oh well...

Like others, have been cutting my own for the last 15 years.

Wahl trimmer, 6 on top, 5 on the side....

Only thing I miss are the shampoos with titties in your face
