I get all my news right here....

GH85Carrera 05-04-2020 08:02 AM

Local newspaper on-line digital version.

Local TV station CBS and national TV news that I can skip the endless "we are all gonn die" stories.

Various web sites. Except for weather, I don't care much about the "current" news as 95% of it is pure speculation and often proven to be flat wrong just a week to a month later when the actual facts are known.

The national news mostly reports on what is happening on the coasts (NYC and LA) and ignores anything else except "if it bleeds it leads" disasters and that is just for a day, and on to the next sensational over-hyped story.

For local weather I am very interest in current updates. The weather coverage of the local stations is the best in the world. They have more up to date equipment that the National Weather Service in Norman, OK.

While having coffee in the morning....OTA TV only here.

BBC World news
Used to watch DW (out of
Germany), it was removed recently tho'
A bit of CBS...mebbe (follows local news), but it was habit because of Norah and ol' Charlie Rose...no mas.
Fox News Sunday once in a while for pure polutical BS :D

If it bleeds it leads. If it instills fear it will be repeated. National crisis' are repeated multiple times every hour with "new breaking details" that regurgitate the same info over and over.

Some of these are tinfoil conspiracy and just sensationalized blather.

Also for mostly nsfw and shytposting: /b/ or /pol/ in voat.co, poal.com, 4chan, 4plebs, 7chan, 8kun, mylittlepolitics,
Al lot of garbage to sift through there as well. Not for the thin-skinned. Use eyeball bleach after.

What about it is parf, Mr Randy? I'd be glad to erase if so.
Those are my collection of sources for mental garbage, aka news these days, per the thread title.
I try to cover everything from both sides..

fintstone 05-04-2020 04:52 PM

I just come here (and PARF) and see what everyone else posts. Usually, a large portion is obviously incorrect (nonsensical). Then I research each topic (critically read several articles that seem to dispute each other...and any underlying studies for each) to find out if and how/why they are so wrong. If I see some other interesting article or paper along the way, I read that too. That pretty much covers the waterfront.

i.e. my answer to your question in the OP

RANDY P 05-04-2020 05:43 PM

For domestic events, Probably NBC, whatever is on 6PM. For serious stuff AlJazeera or RT.

As far as i'm concerned, the foreign news sources make more sense, tired of hearing slant from USA based news.

Hardly ever have the patience to watch news shows and their agendas. I read the (actually paper) local newspaper, and am on a few forums that are usually up to date on happenings.

I watch very little TV, and prefer the local country music station playing in the background.

Fox News.

CNN.

And for some strange reason lately, I’ve been looking at News.com.au 🤪

doug_porsche 05-04-2020 08:34 PM

I have grown very untrusting.
I tend to check multiple sites like these, but definitely not limited to these, that rate the new bias.

and then I choose the ones that average in the middle.

My morning routine (with coffee) while listening to local news and Fox business; Online: Fox, CNN, Drudge, Early Bird Brief (military centric news), Daily Diagnosis (daily news brief from American Society of Clinical Pathologists), About Today (misc feel good topics).
