Smokin' hot Mini...
Wait for the video to get past the Audi thing..a couple of minutes...then the hot mini that has frightening performance. 500 horsepower, rear wheel drive...on that short wheelbase? Guy driving in the video says "darty"...Translation: I can barely keep this monster in line...

That's so cool. I'd love that!
Is it over the top? Absolutely! Would I spend what it would probably require to buy/build it? Very unlikely. Do I appreciate it? Hell Yeah! Do I think it would be a good way for Paul to get to the pool hall? Hell no!

The real question is if I'll have a pool hall to go to with Oregon's governor extending the "emergency" until July 6.
But I agree...that mini's driver's seat is no place for this old man. four pounds per horsepower? That is in scary territory alone. Then factor in the 80" wheelbase?

Those things are terrific but $150k is a lot of cabbage.

May need to recycle the name. Made me pucker. |

I've owned a half-dozen 911s, a 912 and a 930 and have restored American, Japanese and European iron, so I'm definitely a car guy. Still, I was disappointed to discover that this thread is about a car ...

Yeah, I didn't watch or research the whole thing to find out what the cost was, but I knew it wasn't going to be cheap. For that sort of money, I suspect you could get a used 911 turbo or GT3 of some year and ultimately be happier.
That thing is kind of like the ultimate resto-mod. I'd love a '67 Chevelle that had a modern suspension, brakes, steering and a modern fuel injected motor that got great gas mileage with a 6 speed tranny that allowed you to lope along the freeway at low RPM, but the car still looked like and had some of the character of a '67 Chevelle. This mini is like that but taken much, much farther. To make a mini mid-engined and rear drive with 500hp that still seems to handle well with AC, nice seats and power windows, I was pretty sure that there was very little mini left other than a few body panels.

Of course a TON of car can be had for that $$ but the guy who builds them makes a good point. You can drive that Mini for that money and never be seen as (or feel like) an A-hole.
Also, I think a fair bit of the mini stays as the rear is J32/J35 Honda/Acura based engine and trans set in a subframe. He has several other options on his website too. https://www.supercoopers.com/ My/my daughter's pilot has a J35 in it and it is remarkably smooth.

Good stuff. Fasterproms just built a smart car with a K series. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Mv7zLhtN68
My neighbor has an abandoned Acura with the v6 my brother wants me to get it to put the drivetrain in my 914. Its a big unit though I think its too tall.

The whole point of a hot Mini is the surefooted handling. I hillclimbed a Mini Marcos for a couple of seasons : the car was so short that one could xompletely ignore what the back end was doing around tight corners and concentrate on preserving enough speed in the corner and flooring it exactly on the apex so that exit speed was maximised with just the 100 flywheel bhp in a 1300 pound car that I had at my disposal: ie aim the front end in the right direction. Loads of UK kit cars have 4 bhp per pound weight but most of them have about 88-90 inch wheelbases, road legal ones used for competition often weigh about 800-850 pounds
