Atlas lifts

Ok, garage build is moving along and now the time has come for the lift. Originally was going to go with a two post lift but I have decided a 4 post is better for my needs; mostly storage of the 911 and light service on all the cars. I am leaning toward the Atlas 8000 EXT for the lift height for storage and still allowing enough clearance under the ramps so I don’t have to stoop down when parking underneath.
Does anyone have an Atlas 4 poster? Have you been happy with it...any negative experiences?

Yes.. Greg Smith is where I plan to go. I save a lot in shipping by picking it up myself.

I have had zero problems with mine in the 10 years. Very happy with it.
The casters have allowed me to position it in every stall in my garage...there are 4 diff ones.
I have even moved it to a diff stall with one of the cars on the ramps...it's easy.

If you work on your cars, consider a bridge jack if your budget allows. I sometimes wish I'd bought two, but having even just one is huge.

I bought an atlas two post through Greg smith, perhaps not entirely relevant but I’ve never had an issue with it. Excellent piece of machinery.

Check your local Craigslist you might find there is a lift vendor near you that can save you some money . Shorter drive distance and having someone local IF something goes wrong could be beneficial .

+1 on getting bridge jacks for it. One is OK, two is ideal.

Thank you all..Greg Smith is about 90 miles away and is who I will use. I called yesterday to order but they are out of stock for about two more weeks; they have 40 coming in. I’ll get it in a few weeks and get to work on some long overdue projects. Between needing a new clutch and a garage project, the 911 hasn’t been on the road in two years...and we all know there will be a lot of “while I am in there” add on projects like a broke heater cable, replacing tunnel fuel lines, detailing engine bay, replace the sound pad, etc, etc, etc.

See if 220v is available. Not that you are lifting multiple cars everyday but with BendPak the 220 motor lift time is half. 110 is slow.

I measured the time for 'on the floor' to high enough to walk under.....45 seconds with 110 volts.
That's with a 911 on the ramps.
220 volts is not necessary at all.

Lift is in. I picked it up and installed myself with the help of a engine hoist...this thing is HEAVY! I couldn’t be happier with the height...pulled the old Durango in for perspective.

Wow...and you mounted it on the wall! What keeps the cars from falling off?

Not mounted on wall..just a moveable 4 post lift. It’s about 3’ off the sidewall. Has a 8000# capacity and is pretty darn solid. Once I finish the wall sheathing, I will probably put two anchors per post as I don’t see moving it on a normal basis.

He made the 'wall' comment because your pic is sideways for a lot of us.
Looks like the lift is hanging off the wall.

Color me jealous.

Nice job!
It's fun driving under the lifted 911 for the first time..isn't it?
Takes a few times to just ram it in there!
And also, I leave the ramps on, the lift goes high enough to clear the bottom car. (I hate lifting them)

After a year of cursing the steel ramps, I gave in and bought the aluminum ramps. What a difference! Sure saved my back.

Ben, nice garage.
