okay. on a serious note. what is the delivery method when someone buys a tub of grease like that. you spoon it into grease guns? or is there a tube you insert into that big vessel? that cant work can it? grease is not flowable.

i dont get it. please explain, PPOT brains.

Late 70's station I worked at had grease guns like those above hanging by hoses next to every lift. Fed by a 55 gallon drum in the back room. Cars then needed it. LOF service, lube, oil and filter. Quite a few grease fittings on that old detroit iron.

I thought the thread was about getting the movie. Never mind

My 1986 El Camino has grease zerks all over the front suspension. And one at each end of the drive shaft on the universal joints. I lube the front end every time I change the oil. The drive shaft is a pain to get to and get a hose on those fittings, and they go 20,000 miles between lubes. I just had my drive shaft balanced and new universal joints put on for the second time in 370,000 miles.

i bet the employees "paper scissor rock" to see who gets to change out that nightmare. i grease myself silly with my grease gun!!

Pump is a bargain compared with the grease itself.
Yes this could be some kind of military - contractor - price... I once called a NJ Co. about positive-floatation - blocks of foam, they mostly sell to the Navy, for use in submarines etc. It was $350 a square foot or something...

sammyg2 05-20-2020 10:24 AM

The recip pneumatic pump sux the grease off the bottom, and the follower plate sits on top of the grease and is sucked down by the void. It prevents air from creating a pocket so the pump doesn't looose suction.
Most of the time.
