The library would have had a giggle.

I returned a book 55 years late. I wonder how much the late fees would have been.

I was going through some of my Mom's stuff and noticed one of the books was a library book so I returned it LOL

WPOZZZ 05-21-2020 12:01 AM

You know, for our Secret Santa, someone gave me a couple of library books.

Bill Douglas 05-21-2020 12:54 AM

Haha, the bastard. Were the books any good.

"Send the bill to my mom," replied Mr. Douglas.

rusnak 05-21-2020 05:47 AM

What did they say? I would have used the night drop box and split the hell out of there.

I have a book I got from our elementary school 50 years ago. I keep thinking I’ll send it back one day, but there’s no way I can afford the $127,383.43 fine!.

Yeah, USD$77,693.09 AND getting beaten up by a lesbian librarian. Have you not seen our librarians.

Heel n Toe 05-21-2020 08:30 PM

I thought they couldn't fine you more than the value of the book. Am I wrong about that?

petrolhead611 05-21-2020 11:15 PM

The value of the now Antiquarian book is what they can fine you

I've got no idea. I'm not very good with libraries.

When I was in my 20's I snuck a late book into the library and put it back in the correct position in the shelves, then explained that I returned it months ago etc and I shouldn't have a fine.

Haha, we walked around to the shelves then she wholeheartedly apologized for the confusion.

Back in my single days I dated a chick that was a librarian. She was a bit different and that was fun at the time. She could start at any point of the alphabet and go backwards with ease. That was just one of her many talents.

Bill Gates as a kid worked in the school library. He was fascinated with the Dewey Decimal system.
