I just got my ass kicked working on my motorcycle.
I was working on my bike. Some dude across the street had his garage door open and he was doing exercises lifting his own body weight.
I’d argue I did more sit-ups and leg lifts. He was grunting with the exertion. I was cussing from my exertion. I lifted more iron just trying various wrenches. If I tilt my head back, I have to use my hands to lift it back up. I’m effed tomorrow. Sore for sure. I’m sure my neighbor will be sore-free. Wuss. Installing my centerstand. There was a T-30 Torx head facing away with no straight shot at it and there was only 2” of apace around it. I had elbow adapters stacked. Cussing was epic. In order to lay eyes on it I had to have my head under the bike. I’m not convinced I tightened it! Tomorrow I’m spending whatever I need on a 1/4” ratcheting box wrench with a hinged head. I’ll chase down a snap on truck If need be. I’ll throw money at the guy. I’ll buy a set of SAE wrenches if I only need the 1/4. I am not a car guy anymore. I almost torched the bike for. the insurance money. Gah. Stupid center-stand. Hahaha. |
Microwaved some leftover spaghetti and washed it down with IPA. Rye whiskey for dessert.

I think the b1tch was just showing off. Jealous of your motorbike - and even more jealous you were working on it yourself.

Just keep pounding away. That's what I do...
|
Dude! Is it me or have you let yourself go recently? I sure hope there is no high elevation bow hunt planned for the fall. You'd have to get on the wagon stat! :D

I have bought just a single wrench before for a job and bought wrench sets for a single wrench.
A year or two ago I bought some hinged head ones in SAE and Metric. I have used them a bunch. My dirt bike is all ready to go for this weekend. If it runs well I will not be able to walk by the end of each day and the Razr with the beer cup holder will look like a sexy ***** calling my name. |
I blame Covid.
I ride my mtn bike today. Then wrenched. Gassed. Insult to injury I rolled my walrus body over my glasses. Haha. I’m a train wreck. Oh, I have enough points to draw a good couse deer hunt in AZ. Hehe. |
Elk hunting last year about killed me I felt so out of shape. Soooo I used the google machine to look up the most effective cardio equipment.
Picked up a Jacobs Ladder and then moving it from the shipping pallet to my second floor about killed me and two guys I had helping. I was too worn out to even use it, but I will be damned if I ever feel that bad hunting again. |
I have these for just such an occasion.

You will not regret buying a set of ratcheting end wrenches. I have both standard and metric sets, none with the swivels for the box end though. Those things are PRICELESS when you need them. One thing I learned as a kid tearing down cars for a repaint was to not try to look at that nut or bolt that was really difficult to see. I'd look away because I'd get a headache trying to see something that even if I could see it didn't do any good. The wrench didn't go on or off any easier if I could see it.
One of the sets I have will not allow a nut to pass through the top of the box end. It also holds a torx, phillips, straight, square, whatever bit in place. My metric set allows a nut or bit to pass right through which can be a P.I.T.A sometimes. |

I agree with Nick, ratcheting combination wrenches are a gift from the heavens. |
I have these, no snap on. Been using them for years .The only one I had to replace , was the 10 mm which I lost . https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=l&ai=DChcSEwiJnb2g58TpAhVLvsAKHQx1DroYABAF GgJpbQ&sig=AOD64_22mob7sCjAjyh-0tG4C0AloSOXhw&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwifhrig58TpAhU ITKwKHTO9AkcQww8ItgM&adurl=

I remember one time the wife wanted me to trim a little tiny bit off a piece of molding, that's how I justified my table saw. :D |
i have ratcheting box wrenches.
no SAE sizing tho..i dont think they make one that goes down to 1/4" tho. i think i will wrestle it out of there, and switch over to a M6x25 with a good old boring hex head. that way my boxwrench can tighten it. they even gave me a torque spec!!! crazy bastards! there is no torque wrench created that can reach that thing. i am feeling okay tho. like i did a great full body workout. my abs feel fabulous. no ABulous. |
|
Maintenance?? I thought you were just supposed to run them into the ground - that's what I do. My lawn mower ran fine for 25 years without ever changing the oil or air cleaner.
|
i ordered that tiny box set.
the thoughts of wrestling that T-30 off to swap to a hex head will give me hives. hail mary time.."coach, let's punt!!" |
