I've been rolling around under four of these 3 ton stands for months.

How can the pawl disengage? Is it a ratchet mechanism and not a pin thru a hole ? I've never looked at one.

Yes a ratchet style vs pin style . I always felt safer using the pin style but I own both . I rarely use them anymore since installing a 2 post lift . My understanding of the recall is the tooling that makes the ratchet pawl was worn . Because of that some/many/all are out of design tolerance . In layman's terms too loose or sloppy.

My jack-stands are the pin style. For a reason. Long ago when I had only my 914 I had some stamped steel cheap stands, but I never trusted my life with them. I trashed them long ago. Now with my scissor lift I almost never use my jack stands or floor jack.

I have those exact jackstands but they were purchased from O'reilly's . Differnt name, exact same look.

Think I'm gonna throw 'em away and get legit ones.
