Battery Jump Starters

Rather than install a second battery and a Perko switch in our boat, I thought it might be reasonable to simply carry a portable jump starter. On occasion we will drop anchor, shut off the boat but leave the music/lights on. Have never done so long enough to kill a battery, but with only one, I could see it happening. Alcohol is usually involved, but I digress.

I know nothing about these things. Do they require frequent charging? Anything to know beyond that? Looks like most on Amazon have good reviews...any specific recommendations?

I have a NORCO. It sits in my car for months and keeps near full charge. I think you're supposed to get at least two or three jumps out of a full charge. Pretty small, too, for what it offers.

I always carried cables.... since I had two trolling batteries along with the starter battery.... never needed them. Get something....or drink less :D.

Get something ;)

I had a device in my truck that would not let my trailer/accessories drain the battery enough to prevent starting.

I also have one of these: https://www.costco.com/type-s-lithium-jump-starter-portable-power-bank-with-led-flashlight-.product.100425276.html

Small but it works. Can also charge USB devices like your phones.

You must mean Noco Genius. I bought the big one, the Boost Pro because we use it to jump start customer cars. It will jump-start a motorhome. I keep a Genius in my car and in my girl's car.

Yes, thanks AB...always very cautious in that regard.

Went ahead and ordered the 1000A version NOCO. Thanks all for the advice!

Yep, I have the NORCO and I keep one in Mrs. Beard's car and one in the Truck. Not the biggest, but it is rated to start up to 8 liters. GB50, about $99

What is incredible is that Li-ion can hold a max charge for a year!
The Noco works great, but the giant clamps do not fit a 911

I have a Corbra one that works great, small
