Why can I not stay logged into Pelican?

I hate to start a thread over something so minor, but maybe it's happening to others too. I cannot stay logged into Pelican. If my computer hibernates or I close the window, every time I go back to Pelican, it requires a login. I have the box checked to stay logged in. This is the first time this has happened in 19 years of being on Pelican. I don't have this problem on any other site.

I've had the same problem. I think you you don't post often the bump you off. I've been posting more so it hasn't happened as often.

Maybe delete cookies or some other system files??
I’m not that tech savvy.
Spitballin’ hunches.

Doing that last week is what started this problem.

I post plenty enough, just not every 30-60 min.

Prolly because you did something bad in a previous life ;)

So it is cookie related, at least it seems to be.
have you tried rebooting your computer? (Flame suit on ;))

I have noticed a shorter length of time staying signed in for several years now. Maybe 15-20 minutes is all I get if away from the computer.

Because Pelican is based in So Cal, a gun free zone. Don't CCW when you log on, see if that helps. :D

Have you tried a hard refresh/cache refresh? Ctrl F5 usually.
Fixed it for me a while back.

I think you have to tell your browser, to "remember me" and accept cookies from the site. I stay logged in for months on my PC and my phone and never have to login.

Maybe a subtle message from PP :)

RWebb 05-29-2020 01:49 PM

your ISP knows what you're doing and has taken steps

Did you add some fancy privacy stuff to your browser? if the brower won't allow cookies to be stored...

VINMAN 05-29-2020 05:21 PM

Yep, been having the same problem. Only happens on here.

PP security certs are expired. Add an S to the http in the address and bookmark it. Should stay logged in if you use the bookmark.

They are expired because this is an open forum. Anyone at all can go to the site and read all they want. If they want to post they can make up a name and log in.

I use Firefox, and a bookmark. I have more than a few times been on Pelican, and then get diverted to real work and end up logged in for over a day.

It is likely your security or antivirus program or a cookie setting.

I noticed that thread views do not seem to change.
Even with re-loading the page, and multiple posts by others.
