Will never deal with Quicken Loans/Rocket Mtg again

Doing a refi and it is unreal how disorganized and half assed their system is. A loose collection of departments that apparently never communicate with each other and nobody appears responsible for actually making sure the process gets done in a reasonable amount of time.

Wish i'd picked some other company.

Sorry to hear. That is the exact opposite of the experience I had a few years ago with Quicken Loans through my relationship with Schwab. It was just the Quicken name then. I had never had a loan go as smoothly and efficiently as this one. So much so that I have referred others to them.

I also had a solid, easy process with them a year ago, and their app-based payment system is quick, easy and comprehensive. It all comes down to the person who was initially assigned to handle your case, I suppose.

If you are still in process, it would probably be in your best interest to ask for another rep if you are not getting the results you expect.

Hate to hear that yours wasn't a pleasant experience.

I'll deal locally, face-to-face, thank you very much. Adam Smith's invisible hand has made its way into the mortgage industry. It's compelled smart local lenders to compete, something they lament privately, but they'll take a small percentage of something over a hundred percent piece of nothing.

This^

I only deal with smaller, local banks where I can look them in their baby blue eyes.
Amazing how much quicker any issues are resolved when sitting across a desk vs. on line or over the phone.

I have done 2 mortgages through Quicken Loans. The 1st was completely painless, efficient, and fast. The 2nd was a PITA from the beginning and I thought it was never going to end. I guess it is a dice roll depending on who is on point with the loan.

I’ve “tried” using them in the past to refi our vacation home. Had plenty of equity but never got anywhere. Obviously, they didn’t want it. Will NEVER reach out to them again. Their ads are deceptive and bull sh..

When I moved I was introduced to a local mortgage broker. Worked with him to finance my initial home purchase and now I'm refinancing with him a second time. He's available whenever I need him and he's always looking for when a new rate makes financial sense for me.

My local broker, who i've known since the early 90s, recently had a stroke. Surely wish i could be working with him on this.

I'm now projected to be at approx. 2.5 months before closing.

No doubt they'll extend that further with a 'oh, well we need bank statements, deposit tickets, etc since it's been so long since the last time'.

It's almost like they don't want to close the loan.

I signed the documents today on the recent refi. My broker was getting perturbed with the underwriters. They kept wanting more documentation, beyond what was requested last year, and changing things at the last minute. But it's done now. I think a lot of lenders are being extra careful right now.

We had originally mortgaged through a local bank here, but after they lost our money twice (escrow for tax/insurance et al) we fired them and went with a local credit union. All our cars were financed through the credit union as well now.
