Giving my Son My Rolex Submariner

I bought it new about 33 years ago for the crazy price of about $2,000 the wife was not happy, but it happened to match my annual bonus, so she let it go. Now worth something stupid used like $6-$8,000.

I don't wear it much anymore, I actually like my Apple watch better.

You buy junk like that as a status symbol/to impress co-workers, clients, whatever.

I'm retired and he turns 30 in late December, so I'm going to give it to him then, not as a birthday present, but as an inheritance He's a good, responsible young man. I figure I might as well give it to him now to enjoy/show off, let others scope it out and say to themselves "is it real", rather than 10,20 or 30 years from now when he would otherwise inherit it.

Great idea to pass it on sooner rather than later.
And he's past the age where he might be inclined to pawn it for a few cheap thrills.

H, you have any other kids? I’ve often wondered how parents keep it fair.

It may be worthwhile looking to see if the reference number is worth anything, they are on the case behind the bracelet where it mates up

Watches like anything, all time high, remember that Paul Newman's Daytona sold for over $17mm

Got a fake rolex from my brother. He told me it was fake. Traded it for an external floppy drive for my Mac back in the 400k days. Told him it was a fake. He got upset because he took it to a jeweler and the jeweler laughed at him. I told him it was a fake.

My Dad also got a fake from my brother and wore it everywhere till he passed. He said he knew it was fake but it was the only watch he found that kept good time for him, including expensive not fake Rolexes. Guess we just got cheap in our DNA.

Looks like a 16800... first one with a sapphire crystal, so a little more practical, yet still retains more of a vintage look. It also has a better movement than the previous versions. I would suggest that your son have it serviced by Rolex in San Francisco. They should still have parts for those, but I wouldn't guarantee that they won't run out, one day in the near future.

Most people with a real Rolex have a wife with fake tits.

Mom didn't need fake tits. She was well endowed, as were both her sisters. Mom was also homecoming queen at her HS in 1936.

My wife of 35 years, had a mastectomy of her right boob 14 years ago, since you brought up the subject. I'm pretty sure I posted here about the heartbreak, but feel free to dredge it up if it turns you on.

Honestly, I don't get people like you. You want to feel better by trying to tear someone else down? WTF is wrong with you?
I come here for affirmation on some decisions in life, and I welcome friendly criticism, and sometimes commentary on life in general, you ? not so much.....

Hey, Mom had the same thing. And that Tamoxaphin they put her on to keep the cancer from coming back ended up giving her two strokes and dementia that killed her within 15 years of the mastectomy.
Too late the doctors said it was that or the cancer might come back. Mom would have rather have the cancer come back than lose her mind.

At least he deleted his most egregious post.

That said, there's no place for him here. Hugh is doing something very nice for his son, something we can all be proud of. Hugh is a great guy and then this worthless little punk comes along and pisses all over it.

Wifey has a gold and SS Ladies Rolex that she inherited from her Mom, my daughter doesn't want it.
