Moist
using it in a sentence. "the soil is moist" moist.
we all know i cannot grow anything. i know why. my finger is not calibrated for moisture. i jam it in, it feels dry. i water. i bought a moisture gauge a few days ago. it was mind opening. everything is damp!! stuff i would have watered. i now believe my Fiddle Fig tree indoor plant has a fighting chance. i chopped it half in height because it was growing into the ceiling. (i bought it big). i almost killed it under-watering it. the leaves got big brown spots. i am homing in on the perfect moisture number. there is new growth where i hacked it in half. i love my moisture gauge. it doesn't take a battery even. i need to google how that works. you all just jam i finger in the soil? or are you watching for the leaves to droop? |
Don’t even suggest to test it on Mrs Vash.
Tempting, but don’t do it. ;) |
Is the single most hated word in English.
Cracks me up. |
Bamboo :D

Moist is in the eye of the beholder:D. Overwatering can be as bad as underwatering. Wifey is more in tune with watering especially tomato plants which are super sensitive to water or lack of it. Happy you have found a solution vash!

My ex could drown a water lily...
Soaked a lot of bonsai trees into oblivion. We still make fun of how she could not keep those little F’ers alive for more than two months. But for some odd reason, she can grow some pretty peonies. |
I got a little Jade tree as a gift when I bought my first house. It was just a 8 or 10 inches tall when I got it. The number one rule is try to ignore it and don't water it if the leaves are not looking flat. After 22 years it was huge. It was real pretty, but my new bride did not want it in the house since it took up a lot of room. I took it to my parents house as they had a green house on the front porch. I told them water it no more that once per year and not at all if the leaves are rounded. It was dead inside of a year. :( Dad watered it once per month or so. Way too often.

You are using the wrong appendage to test for moistness.
