Audible Books - Anyone Use the App?
I'm thinking of downloading/ using the app to listen to books during my commute time. Problem is I don't know % of books converted to audio. Other thing is you have to give your Amazon password to establish.
One author in particular I'm interested in is Chris Voss / Black Swan consulting. |
Audible is owned by Amazon.
Many books are available. It is a monthly subscription. My subscription level allows for one token a month. The tokens are redeemable for books. Sometimes they have sales and allow two specific books for a token. I was not taking advantage of the service (I got the subscription on accident, trying to simply buy an audiobook) until this Shut In Place. Now I listen every day for an hour or two while I walk. I am really enjoying it. Tokens used to have an expiration date. Now I believe they are good as long as you keep your subscription going. |
So there is a charge for the subscription? How long is the period?

Try searching YouTube. 90% of you want is there for free.

Yes - there are many of this guy but not entirely. Like most he has something to sell, so there many U-tube videos with some highlights- but he doesn't give all his info away there.

You subscribe month to month. It is a re-occurring charge. It buys one token. I believe it is $15/month (maybe $12). That is less expensive than if you were to buy the books individually.
I did not want a subscription, because I did not think I would use it. I was going on a car trip and wanted an audio book for the car. I bought the audio book from Amazon and then I needed a player. I downloaded Audible, bang, they got me for the subscription without me knowing what was happening. I started to collect tokens because I wasn't listening to audio books. I was then told some were going to expire. I started to buy books to keep them from expiring, and I was enjoying them on road trips...although the tokens were not being consumed as fast as I was collecting them...until Covid-19. I now walk about 7 miles a day. I put on a book while I walk. I am now catching up on my bank of tokens (which, through a recent change of policy, do not expire if you still have a subscription I believe). |
You can get audio books from the library and use their app to listen to them as well. They will let you download them online.
I think the selection is not as large as Audible, but your author might be there. |
Ok - interesting- thanks

Used to use Audible. But now we listen to podcasts almost exclusively. The variety of subjects is incredible, and they are mostly free.

I found the app to work very well. Books started automatically in the car where we left off, without any button pushing.
You can subscribe to the service. You can also purchase individual books. Some are available for free. Once you purchase a book, it is in you library to listen to forever. Gary |
