Show Us Your House Thread

Following on from yellowperil's 'fine house' thread and seeing as there are so many styles of architecture depending where in the world you live.......

Lets see your house :)

This is from this spring. Ready for spring planting. The barrel is a compost as is the pile of stuff beside the barrel to the right.

The oversized 3 car garage with a workshop area, and a bathroom was my selling point. My wife fell in love with the master bedroom closet. It is crazy big. Walk in 10 feet, then turn left for 18 feet and room for more clothes than anyone needs.

Let's see if this will work any better.

Ah, sorry about the sports car blocking the view. I'm sure the Captain won't mind though.

I am going to follow Vash's lead on this one. Simple ranch style on an acre. Though it does have two, two car garages which was one of the major selling points for me.

NOPE.

Imagine the most boring mass built architecture possible, in the most boring suburban neighborhood and you got it though

I am grateful for my little slice of boring however. I do have a 3 car garage which is about 3 less than I would like to have but 1 more than most of my neighbors.

Fortunately I threw down new red mulch yesterday. Just in time. "I'm ready for my closeup Mr. DeMille".

Craigster Manor. Photobomb by dog looking for lizards (he has yet to catch one)...

Lets talk about this roof. Also, what general area, climate, of the country you are in.

Also, I am with Vash, and probably a lot others.

The roof garden is 10x16 planted with sedum. It took a lot of research to figure ot how to. It calcs at 6,700 lb.s wet so I needed to double up on rafters and collar ties first. Then secure the garden frame to keep the whole thing from sliding off. Then, layers of pond liner, J drain mat, root filter then half inch coconut fiber mat for soil filter. Grid the whole thing with 1by every 20 inches to prevent landslide and irrigate with pop up micro's tied to my timer. The planting medium is half Perlite, half peat moss. 2yd.s in total. I set up scaffolding to work up there since it's a so sloped. 52 flats of sedum succulent. Had I known it would be such a major project I might have rethought it but we love it now. Next year, the other half of the garage roof we like it so much. I'm in Napa, CA where it's easy to grow anything. I've had hot air balloons come down for a closer look.

My house? No big deal.

We bought it for the yard. Somewhat private and still an 8 mile commute to town.

My country house......when I want to isolate and get off the grid. No power, no water, no internet, no cell phone coverage. But it does have a wood stove. ;)
