What's better than a hillybilly dock?

A double decker hillbilly dock!!
Most of the docks in my cove are brand new aluminum double decker with multiple boat docks and lifts, except mine!
Mine is a simple 16wx12d wood deck with floats underneath.
For shade, I put up a galvanized pole system that I can attach a tarp to when the family needs shade.
Works fine but definitely looks out of place.
Well, I have decided to double down.
Going to build an 8wx12d deck about dead center and 8' above the existing 16wx12d.
Primary use is for shade, but also for launching drunken belly flops.

Picture shows hillbilly dock, hillbilly deck, and cabin in progress.

Couple of issues:
1. Dock gets grounded in the winter and I need to build the upper portion pretty strong. Ground is sloped, but single sloped (no ruts, or boulders, etc). As water level fluctuates, I have to manually adjust the winches and lift the gangway up/dn the stairway. Planning on adding wheels and a float under the gang way and allowing dock to rest on the flat part of the channel during winter. Eventually get a longer gangway and keep the dock stationary above the channel, but those things are like $100 a foot (x~40'). Gangway would be worth more than the dock!

2. Concerned with the buoyancy of the existing floats. They only submerge about 2" with the existing dock, so adding half a deck above should only submerge them about 2" more worse case?

Any thoughts?

That's impossible to determine without more info

The dead load shouldn't affect the draw but 2 levels of people with a higher COG could be interesting.

Yep, the existing weight and the weight of the new deck are needed to calculate. Beyond my math skills.

METRIC makes it eazy water is 1 gram per cc
or 1 kilo per liter

just use the OTHER side of the tape
XxYxZ in mm = weight in grams displacement

Just get a hovercraft and be done with it.

Think of all the work time and money you will save, plus you can use it year round.

Where's yer neighbors kitchen table that they put out on the street? If that's not an integral part of the dock structure... then it ain't hillbilly. We have standards here on PPOT :D

I like it, though it does need to be cleaned up a little. Alaska or Russia, hard to tell, but the flag could be AK's flag.

Are there four hottubs up front?

We might be related.

Among other things, the side of that boat thing says Alaskan Governor. The tires holding the roof down behind it is a nice touch.

So, you are saying this is Sarah Palin's crib?

What would make it even better is if there was a Cub or C-185 on floats on the after deck (correct term??), and a derrick to lift it in and out of the water.

I want one. I should start a gofundme campaign.
