AX = masturbation
Road Course = sex

:D - It is a joke, but to me that was my conclusion. I still instruct at AX school when asked but really enjoy a nice track day 1-2 times a year.

I know that AX is very competitive and and challenging but it just isn't worth all day for 8 runs. I can't say the 993 is the best AX car either. It does 65mph in 2nd ... and when I bought it, it was indeed for the track and getting there in comfort! I was done with AX even in the SC ...

Even UK sprints/ hillclimbs have high costs involved nowadays. Lifed helmets,seats,harnesses,suits. Typical entry fee £135.Autosolo example entry fee £30, no helmet or suit needed.Same amount of track time per day. Circuit racing has become a contact sport in the last decade at least, so no thanks from me any more. Track days are a way to wear out a car to no measured end.

Our local PCA runs good autocrosses compared to our local SCCA. For about the same entry fee, PCA has paid corner workers and lunch for everyone.

Our local region has an autocross every month during daylight savings time, so spring to fall.

$20 bucks for PCA members is 8 timed runs, and a very safe venue. $30 for non PCA drivers. Just this Tuesday one of the guys in the club held a non PCA track day at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. It is a very technical track, and in the wooded hills on North East Oklahoma, 85 miles from my house. That was $240 for the day. I was exhausted after 6 - 20 minute sessions, so I went home. The folks that stayed had 8 sessions each. Just 15 cars total, so 5 cars per run group. At times it was like a private track day as I could not see any other cars, or they were multiple corners away.

For sure the most fun one can have in a car with their clothes on.

When I was a younger man...

I used to go to a track for their "open" days. Lots of full rev's 2nd and 3rd gear sort of stuff. Easier on the car too I guess. That autocross looks like it gives transmissions, clutches and driveshafts death.
