Thank you. Here's Scott and Tanner at boot camp graduation. Tanner was also selected platoon guide. I stifled tears watching him lead the kids through the marching routines. They're actually men now, kids no more. A brigadier general presented Tanners plaque for honor graduate

Step back into the golden age of travel with TWA’s Lockheed L-1011 TriStar cabin.
Introduced in the 1970s, the L-1011 was known for its widebody comfort, spacious seating, and advanced technology for its time — including a quieter ride thanks to its Rolls-Royce RB211 engines.
Compared to today’s cabins, the L-1011 offered generous legroom, larger windows, and a touch of retro luxury, while modern airliners focus more on efficiency, mood lighting, and high-tech entertainment systems.
It’s a fascinating contrast: the classic elegance of 1970s TWA versus the digital convenience of today’s fleets.
And notice, no one in pajamas or looking like a homeless person.

Man jailed after fighting 3 college kids who shot his dog 40 times.
When three college kids returned home on break, they used BB guns for target practice on a neighbor’s dog shooting him more than 40 times. The punishment? A fine and community service…
The dog’s owner couldn’t accept it. He stormed over to their house and challenged all three at once. “Fight someone your own size,” he told them. What they didn’t know, he was a black belt in jujutsu. By the time police arrived, the kids were bloodied and broken, lesson learned. The man left in handcuffs, but with a smile on his face.
He’ll spend 30 days in prison. His dog is recovering at his mother’s home. When asked why, he said simply:
“Kids need to learn there are consequences to their actions.

My Grandson Tanner. Seems like the baseball pic was taken yesterday. He's the honor graduate of boot camp for his Marine platoon. He and his brother are going through infantry training now.

They have Marine Core basic training right across Port Royal Sound from my house (Paris Island). Friday graduation ceremony is a fun and goose bump raising thing to attend. Congrats to Scott and Tanner…well done!

Congratulations Dad, Scott and Tanner!

A photographer took these at Compo Beach in our small town of Westport CT back in the 60’s.

Playing on the cannons was the thing to do for little kids. They’re still there.

I think I've used "Bro" <10x in my life, maybe <5x. I don't remember ever using pal, but I do use dude, fella, and less frequently buddy. I also use "guys" in a non-gendered sort of way, but I've mostly switched to "folks" so as to not offend:rolleyes: anyone.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1757530885.JPG

I should have cropped this one before I uploaded. I'd never heard of these differences. I haven't tried to "fact check" them for accuracy, but it sounds reasonable.

I thought this was very cool.

I "know" a guy via a FB Tool group. He restores a lot of tools to original condition. In this case, he wondered "could I polish that billhook?" and set out to see how it would turn out. He did in fact manage to make it shiny.
And yes, it's polished, not chrome or nickel plated. (although he does that for some items) I think he said that he started at 120 grit and finished at 3000grit and then used 3 different compounds. The handle was ebonized and oiled.

I read about a couple of girls that bought tickets to Nice but ended up flying to Tunisia. Somebody wasn’t paying attention.

We have a town in Nova Scotia called Sidney. Every now and then some travellers show up wondering why the flight from Halifax was so short ( and cheap). Usually they have come from Europe and were trying to get to Australia. :D

The Volkswagen SP2 was a rare, air-cooled sports car produced exclusively in Brazil by Volkswagen do Brasil from 1972 to 1976, known for its striking design but criticized for its underwhelming performance despite its price. It shared its chassis and 1.7-liter flat-four engine with the Brazilian VW Type 3 Variant and offered a luxurious, handcrafted interior. Though a marketing and prestige project to boost VW's image in Brazil, the SP2's weak engine and high cost led to poor sales, with only 10,205 units produced before production ceased.

Charles Wilber, an Alabama native, made history with his extraordinary achievements in tomato cultivation. Coming from an agricultural background, Wilber became renowned for setting world records both for the number of tomatoes produced on a single plant and for growing the tallest tomato plant ever recorded.

His success wasn’t the result of luck, favorable weather, or rich soil alone—it came from meticulous care, innovative techniques, and a deep understanding of the plants he nurtured.

One of Wilber’s tomato plants soared to an astonishing height of over 28 feet, leaving even seasoned gardeners in awe. Equally remarkable was his record for yield: a single plant that produced more than 1,300 tomatoes. This staggering harvest showcased not only the vitality of the plant but also Wilber’s unmatched skill as a gardener.

He attributed his accomplishments to organic practices—using compost, careful watering, and natural pest control—allowing his plants to thrive without chemical fertilizers or pesticides.

Wilber’s work remains a lasting testament to what patience, innovation, and respect for nature can achieve.
That's a lot of tomatos!
