http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660312173.jpg At its high point in 1919, the area supported more than 1,000. Life was tough in the desert region, as water had to be brought by train, selling as high as $1.00 per barrel. Let's explore Steins, New Mexico – A Railroad Ghost Town http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660312173.jpg Flattening hills to build Seattle, 1905-1930. Starting in 1897 and continuing through 1930, the hilly topography of central Seattle was radically altered by a series of regrades, in what might have been the largest such alteration of urban terrain at the time. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660312173.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660312173.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660312173.jpg |

Armed with a 1,700-lb. warhead, each Ohka was to be carried within about 20 miles of its target by a Mitsubishi G4M "Betty" bomber, and released on its one-way mission. Americans knew it as the "Baka bomb" presumably because "baka" meant "foolish" in Japanese. Okhas sank at least two ships. |

Suddenly this monster was doing more than 230… believe me, 20 seconds at that speed is a long, long way, with guardrails on both sides, and then a lot of trees …” —Vic Elford http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660425630.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660425630.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660425630.jpg |

I guess it is finally time to replace the belt. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660581110.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660581110.jpg Hunger Stone : The recent droughts in Europe once again made visible the "Hunger Stones" in some Czech and German rivers. These stones were used to mark desperately low river levels that would forecast famines. This one, in the Elbe river, is from 1616 and says: "If you see me, cry" http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660581110.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660581110.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1660581110.jpg |

Not my pic, but I just saw a male black horse fly for the second time. Giant thing (1" long), and crazy looking eyes (which is how I know both times I saw a male). Reminds me of "Dark Helmet."
