Who says procrastination doesn't work?!?

Some guys have all the luck and today, that guy is me.

I have my parents and sister's family coming into town the next two days and between that, working from home, and just typical work stuff, I had totally forgotten that our fiscal year ends next week and all 2021 proposed projects needed to be reviewed and entered into this enterprise tool by the Friday before, which is this coming Friday.

Of course I remembered this today and have the next 2 days off to play host to family, and was telling my wife it may be some late nights due entirely to my fault...until, as I was talking to her about it, I get an email from the powers that be that the deadline for entries was pushed back until July 10th thanks to some upgrade delays and coronavirus issues.

This is me right now::D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I'll tell ya who says that! People who are amateurs at procrastinating!!

Tobra 06-24-2020 01:23 PM

People that say procrastination does not work, have just not been patient enough to give it enough time.

My old boss was a world champion procrastinator, and it seemed to work for him all the time.

I had a planned 2 week vacation coming up. I was going to be gone and on a long trip so unavailable, and this was all in the days before I had a cell phone. I kept telling him he needed to hire someone to do some of the easy tasks in my computer graphics department.

Three days before I was to leave an 18 year old kid came in and handed his resume to the front desk chick. He was a certified Photoshop master, and total computer geek. I had tried to train other people to run the equipment and it was like trying to teach a monkey to type. This kid I showed him once, and he took minimal notes, and had it cold. The really good news (for me) was he only wanted a summer job, and was going to Europe to college in a few months. He could have taken over my computer department with a month of training.

He was like the perfect replacement for me, and the perfect employee for the company owner.

He saw the copy of DOS 1.1 and DOS 2.0 on my shelf and asked to copy the 5.25 inch floppies. He built an old computer from parts he found in the back of computer stores, and some junk I had, and loaded DOS 1.1 on it, just to play with it. No sub-directories, and pitiful graphics. Just like the early days of a 4.77 MHz computer. He did it for fun.

Don't forget: there's no moment as productive as the last moment!

Good skills!

Sometime I'll get around to doing some procrastination, but not just today...

I told my kids " procrastination is like masturbation, feels great when you do it but in the end you are just F^&%ing yourself".

Probably why you'll see me posting July 9th about how I forgot to enter my project proposals:D

If you wait till the last minute, then it only takes a minute.

At a young age I was diagnosed Hyper-Active, which is todays ADHD.

I thrive under pressure and prefer to be under the gun up against an impossible deadline, it is where I am at my best and I know it.

I self sabotage (i.e. screwing around on a forum when I should be working, like right now) to create a stress trigger that puts me in my zone.

I hate my brain and love it at the same time.

john70t 06-24-2020 07:32 PM

I must have originated from the same clone department as Jims5543.
(No better high than turning in the test a minute before the bell rings.)

The good thing is that in the meantime the car gets washed, the kitchen spotless, the weeds picked, the clothes organized, the weeks schedule figured out, that thing forgotten to do, and those cobwebs in the corners done,

I've been working on it since 4:00am, Darn, I'm back into my old habits. It seems like a 4:00am wakeup is the norm' now.

Then this leads to procrastination during the day because I'm tired and can't be bothered.

sammyg2 06-25-2020 06:12 AM

4AM?
Man you are sick. I sleep in to 4:30, sometimes 5.
Gotta be quiet for a few hours to keep from waking up you know who.

flipper35 06-25-2020 08:19 AM

I sometimes still stay up until 4am.

I only wake up at that hour for deer season.
