Anyone Spending Their Tax Refund Foolishly?

instead of saving my tax refund I spent the whole thing on a new toy. I bought a Vava Ultra Short Throw Projector, a 100" screen for inside and a 150" screen for occasional outdoor movie parties.

It took me the whole weekend to install but that was primarily due to installing an outlet behind the screen for back lighting (my walls are not easy access).

The picture quality is shocking, crystal clear and vibrant. It's better in the dark but still very good in the daytime. I have a 15' floor to ceiling window in my living room that has a north facing direction so no direct sun.

I don't have the picture completely lined up with the screen yet and will do that as soon as I get my media cabinet setup. For now, the projector is sitting on cardboard boxes at the base of the screen.

I got some money back from tax over payments. I put 1/2 of that on 2020 taxes due, and the other 1/2 went to my checking account.

I am working on blowing my stimulus check on eating out at local owned restaurants and 40% to 50% tips.

I guess I spent some of my refund on a new helmet, and a day at the track scrubbing off excess rubber from my tires and getting the brake pads thinner. That was so much fun my face hurt from the big grin on my face.

It's Avatar; probably all color levels are too strong but that's what I selected to see how the projector performs with a high detail movie.

My tax refund was better this year because I had a lot of deductions related to refurbishing my rental. I didn't get a stimulus check though.

Here's one with less blue (for you sensitive types :) )

One of my pals has an HD projector and the picture is astonishing. They are really, really good these days. If you like watching movies, (I do), I’d say that you made a great purchase! :)

Technically it's the package of forms you send to the IRS to determine how much money to send them.

But I think we are talking about tax refunds - something I have no experience with.

Since I have a business that is a LLC, I have to estimated (guess) what profit and loss we will have for a year, and make quarterly tax payments. We had a couple of "whale" jobs last year, and had a great year. Trying to guess how many expenses, and the depreciation for the equipment will add up to I did my best guess. I ended up overpaying overall. That is better than a large tax bill due at the end of the year. The whale jobs meant a nice checkbook balance, and very liquid assets. Now we want more whales!

Haven't done estimates for several years. I figure I can make more with my money than the interest costs for not filing quarterly. Plus, they don't give me interest on the money they'd send back if I overpay.

I do estimates, but under pay for the same reason.
