Save it for PARF. How hard is that to understand? It has no value in this thread or your OP.

I edited it to be more politically correct. OK?

I would let the family go to the venue they choose.
Just tell em, fine with the venue you guys chose.. all good with me.

and go to my own venue, not tell em
And they can figure it out.

For real guys seriously consider an advanced directive, real estate trust and a very clear Will. I did all of that years ago. It wasn't inexpensive but my home and several investment accounts are held in a protected, irrevocable trust and my Will makes it quite clear that my kids get everything, in detail share and share alike. Plus I got FBII's signature on my bank account so he could access funds if needs be.

She was the breadwinner and he has ....$150?

He is an adult, right?

Lastpass sounds pretty good, but it sounds like there may be a vulnerability that they were susceptible to just last fall.

My business partner just had his dad pass in January, very unexpectedly, after a short stint in the hospital. And now my neighbor 2 doors down, his dad passed last Friday from Covid-19. Both are going through all of the financial mess as well as grieving.

I just discovered more of their weird financial situation. She was the primary bread winner, though he had a job. His only living parent died and gave him a house and plenty of money to pay off the mortgage on it. He took the money to Vegas and gambled it all away. That was 16 years ago and they are still paying on the mortgage.
I don't blame her for not letting him have free range with the finances.

I sell final expense life insurance and about 95% of of the people I meet who tell me they already have life insurance have zero idea what they have, don't know the correct face amount, name of the carrier or how they'd ever file a death claim for a loved one. Some actually believe life insurance companies scour obituaries, looking for policy holders' names, so they can just mail them a check. I have been in the middle of writing a policy for someone who said they had no insurance, when they looked up their online bank statement and said, "Who's this X insurance company taking $75 out of my account every month?"

My folks have told me where all their passwords are written and handed me a large envelope with final wishes, lawyer and financial info inside. That was 13 yrs ago and I still haven't opened it. But they're still alive and kicking.
