I worked with him on Oceans 12.

We were in the hospital suite with Elliot Gould in the bed and George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Bernie Mac, Don Cheadle, Scott Caan,Casey Affleck, Andy Garcia and Carl Reiner all in the room at the same time.

Guess who was the most popular, charismatic guy that everyone wanted to talk to?

RIP Carl Reiner.

It sure as hell wasn't Scott Caan or Andy Garcia.

Several years ago I went to a screening of Blazing Saddles at the Civic Arts Plaza followed by a Q & A with Mel Brooks, this all in a packed theater of 1400. In the middle of the story of Brooks interviewing John Wayne to play the lead in the movie there was a commotion by one of the side doors. Carl Reiner had walked in unannounced and was heckling his old friend with out a mic from the doorway. Finally they got him mic'd up and it was like listening to two old friend kibitzing over coffee. They ended the 20 minute heckle-fest conversation by doing several minutes of the 2000 year old man, their classic 60 year old vaudeville routine. What a genuinely hilarious evening with two comedic genius's who were truly have a good time.
