Flatbutt, What year is your handbook?
Mine is seventh edition, second printing 1966. On the first page I used Morse Code to write out "Boy Scouts are okay"http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1594043867.jpg |
IDK nor do I see it in the overleaf, but Joe Brunton was the Scout Executive at the time and the Mossberg 340B is advertised for $36.95 :D My Field Book is 1956.

Life scout with 20 merit badges (then I discovered girls) and Brotherhood OA here. Also Philmont JLIT grad. Our troop was highly active backpacking into the wilderness 9 weekend trips per year, 1 week at Summer Camp, 1 week at Winter camp, 1 week floating down the Colorado river, two weeks hiking the Sierras. A great experience that shaped who I am today.

Eagle scout, OA, three 50 milers. I was also a scoutmaster a couple of times. Boy Scouts is great training for young men, and women i suppose, although there is girls scouts. So many fun times camping, hiking, eating food you packed in yourself and cooked over an open flame...
Also, not eating because critters got into your food while you were out exploring! |
My son is an Eagle and in OA. Actually as I type this we're on an airplane on our way back from Seabase. He's now completed the triple crown. He's only 15 and loves Scouts... Very motivated. I did Northern Tier and Seabase with him. He did Philmont on his own. I was a Scout but stopped at Life rank due to sports and other interests.
