Comedians understand

This is one of my favorites.

There's a lot of truth in these others too.

I've heard more than once and from more than one source, that comedians are or should avoid college campuses which seems insane to me. College kids should be the ones that will laugh at anything and everything. It's us grumpy old "get off my lawn" guys that shouldn't be able to laugh at everything.

Just make Andrew Dice Clay White House Press Secretary and be done with it.

That's the answer. In "Mars Attacks" yodelling was the solution to solve the martian invasion.

In the invasion of folks that are offended by everything and want anything that offends them to be banned, I'll bet Andrew Dice Clay is the solution that would have the same end result as the yodelling in Mars Attacks.

I'm watching the third video first, because of Cleese and George. Brilliant.

"Maybe, If you think Jerry Seinfeld is politically incorrect, then you should look in the mirror."

Dayumnnnn!!!! LOL

Excellent and so damn true. People need to get over themselves. There’s no “right to not be offended”. Maybe I’m offended by your offense?:D

I would love to hear a modern day George Carlin show , I am sure it would be hilarious 😁

The last of his stuff that I tried to watch wasn't very funny at all. He'd gotten too political and/or preachy.

Hmmmm. What modern, african-american comedian seems to be on the same path?

wdfifteen 07-05-2020 04:38 PM

I believe taking offense is a choice. You aren’t offended by something unless you choose to be offended.

Listen to Eric Idle at around the 4:20 mark. It sounds like a psychological profile of why trolls are the way they are! Brilliant. I've often wondered why they are such blatant schmucks. It makes sense that they are wanting gratification as opposed to being passionate about their belief since they love the fight more than the expression of opinion.

Frankie Boyle is about as politically correct as you can get For a modern comedian , and he’s still funny .

pavulon 07-05-2020 06:20 PM

The difference between those guys and most people is that they're funny.

A lot of people think they themselves are funny but are just arseholes who laugh at their own "jokes."

You sound like you are offended.

ian c2 07-05-2020 06:31 PM

I’m offended on his behalf

Yep, he's funny, but watching this clip, there's still plenty of stuff for the snowflakes to get their panties in a bunch about.

Chappelle.

Not seeing it. He's a smarter man than that.

Nah, Chapelle is decidedly anti-PC and funny as hell. Kevin Hart, who I also find funny, has bowed to the PC police a few times recently.

Not Eric, John Cleese ;)

All this PC BS could be gone like air escaping a balloon if those attacked would just say "screw you" en masse. Take a look at what JK Rowling did with the trans debate thing. Of course she can afford to say anything she wants with her bank account.

What's been truly depressing to me with the most recent wave is the level to which corporate America has participated. Livelihoods are truly being ruined if you don't toe the line because no company wants to be accused of not being "woke enough."

Statement of the year.

All my life I have thought that there are no boundaries outside of humor. Everything and anyone is subject to humor. Look at Mel Brooks. He has an entire movie like the Producers, and has some funny songs about Springtime for Hitler, and of course, Blazing Saddles.

For those that are easily offended by others, all I can say is toughen up. They universe is not here to make you comfortable at all times.

One of my way of thinking is for most situations one can cry about it, or laugh about it. If you cry about it, you end up with a wet face, and a stopped up nose, and feel bad. If you laugh about it, you will feel better about it, and at worst your face and side may hurt in a good way from laughing, but you will be in a better mood.

I saw Andrew Dice Clay in Austin around 1990. These 2 C-words (and I use that in the politest way) bought front row tickets to complain to him about his act. After a few minutes of their crap, he complained about them, told all his jokes as fast as he could and walked off stage. You want to see 1,000 pissed off people!

^this

Being offended gives the offendee power which they can create from thin air, which can then be leveraged for social, political, and even financial purposes.

Cleese is at the beginning of the video but Idle is in the middle at the 4:20 mark ;)
