Yes, lately, I’ve been feeling overwhelmed and even a bit depressed. I’m still working, but decided a couple things were messing me up, one being COVID and the other online dating. The COVID I can’t really turn off as I have a bunch of job duties that revolve around it, but the online dating; just rejection after rejection is too much, I’m going off of it in the next day or two and just hope to meet women at all the social functions I’m attending these days!

In November I actually had started swing dancing and that was fun and just about all the women where very nice and I was starting to get decent and having a good time even though most were twenty or thirty years younger and not going to be interested in me, but spoiler alert, the virus ended that.

Today I also just picked up the comic and business sections to read and left the front page be.

Got vacation scheduled for next week- I so need it, just going to work on my projects, play with the dog and go on bike rides.

TRUE. i caught a coworker just damn near life-less. turned out it was his 66th birthday today. i dragged him out for lunch and the bar maids made his day with a giant piece of cake. it was GIANT!

he was sad Covid shut down his B-day plans and he is feeling less than useful around the office these days. he fell from a ladder and will be on light duty for the duration. he is about to retire anyways.

i'll keep in touch after that with him.

I feel for you man. I HATED that time in my life. Now with the virus going around it has to be doubly hard. Hope you find a perfect fit (I did). Be patient.

The first dance I went to, I knew nothing; they had an hour lesson before the dance and I struggled- so many of the young ladies were so nice and patient that it made me decide to take a few classes and lessons. I was so bad that first night, I actually had this feeling of nothing left to lose, so I asked the prettiest lady in the room to dance and she put up with me, now every time I’ve been able to dance with her; getting better all the time. I now have her, her sister, their friends and some others that always dance with me, when dances were held. They are all super nice, but around twenty something. Miss the social interaction.

That's the cool thing about getting older. The young ladies aren't worried about you getting the wrong impression because they are friendly and they then have to turn down romantic advances. You are safe.

I'm still working hard, perfecting my procrastination skills.

I’m on my best behavior times ten; there are way more woman, so guys can keep dancing, but the woman have to wait around and they talk... once you get a reputation, you won’t have many to dance with.

Mine is. I've been staying more than busy with small-ish projects around the house. There are other activities such as my hobbies that I've been indulging in too, but lately my motivation is just plain lacking.

My local indoor pistol range recently opened and I went only to find an hour and a half wait time. So I split. I haven't practiced my cello lessons in weeks. I haven't sat down to work on any of my e-music compositions either. The only thing I've done is ride my bicycle every other day.

Now I'm sitting here writing this whiny post.

Sounds like you are in a rut. Try breaking out by doing some new things or changing the order of what you do. Mental health experts recommend getting out in nature regularly. I know you ride your bike, but I am talking about going out for walks or hikes in nature. Taking a boat out. Learn how to sail or pilot a cigarette boat.

Write down your life story, or try writing a short story. Build something or do something you have put off for a sense of accomplishment. Get a dog because you can’t ignore it and have to take it for walks.

When I had too much time on my hands, I wrote a novel and a self-help book. I have a new dog which must be walked daily and rides with me wherever I go.

Just try something new or change things up. Or find a better class of friends :D

(I lost my job at the end of March)

I bought some chickens and I'm in the process of building a chicken run.

They're cute and I like having them around. :)

same here. been out of work since march. spent the first month in basement playing guitar 6 hours a day and cleaning every inch of house. weather got good finally and started work outside in yard, planting gardens, riding mountain bike and fishing. too hot and humid lately for 911

i’m still riding every other day but overall feeling depressed with the realization that i have no job prospects and $ running out. sorta takes the fun out of everything.

but i get through it by not pressuring myself. it’s ok to just do nothing if that’s how you feel.

porsche4life 07-08-2020 08:27 AM

The last few weeks have been rough. I kept super busy through the first part of this with stuff around the house. Now it’s 115 out and I have no motivation to go out in the garage or work in the yard unless necessary. I’ve got a few things I can do inside the house, just don’t feel like doing any of it.

that my friend is called, "you got game!"

wow!!!

Cajundaddy 07-08-2020 08:57 AM

I get it. This has been harder on me than I expected. Still working part time but almost zero interaction with people. All of the track days were shut down for 3 months and our live music calendar has evaporated. About 90% of my social interaction revolved around those things.

I do have some periodic maintenance on the Porsche that needs doing including a replacement windshield and nose repaint. Not excited about getting it done right now. My garage and home office are super clean and organized though!

Also quit watching the news, and avoiding Parf. all the political, and Covid stuff drains me of energy. I found doing projects took my mind off all the crap going on and my energy started returning.

Oh that's just horrible! I don't know how you can stand being in that space.

I'm not sure I'd ever leave the back yard.
