space is just a premium over there. when i was there, my garage looked like a goodwill store vomited into it.

Nice setup there. I like the idea of shelves like that so stuff is in plain sight at eye level.

For 30 years I kept all my tools in exact places that didn't make any sense, but I could find anything in my sleep. I recently built a garage and took the time to rearrange and organize my tools in more logical fashion. Predictably, now I can't find anything.

When I was about 5 or 6 my dad (a tool & project guy) and I built me a work bench right next to his. On Saturday's we'd occasionally disappear to the basement work benches. He'd have his projects and he'd find stuff for me to take apart or generally screw around with. As I got older, I found no shortage of my own projects. Dad had a full shop down there with a table saw, a lathe, a drill press and tons of hand and power tools. I got so spoiled. Anyway, over the years I found its all to easy to have things get out of hand with tools and 'stuff' all over the place. Then this little not so subtle voice ALWAYS comes back to me; 'PUT THINGS AWAY WHEN YOU'RE DONE WITH THEM ROBBIE!!'. Gezz, I was lucky.

That is so cool. You were a lucky kid.

Just wanted to thank the OP and everyone that posted pictures. It motivated me to tidy up for the first time in about 5 years.
