Deep Purple
I haven't heard anything about this band for years. They are about to release their 21st album...Whoosh
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/hear-deep-purple-sprightly-song-124952996.html One of the new songs off it....not bad! One of my favorite bands from the 70's <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/acn1VJrLYpQ" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
One of my favorite albums has long been Made in Japan. That was Purple at the their peak. Highway Star on that album is the one song I should not play when driving my 911 or I end up driving at ticket speeds.
The new cut sure sounds "digital or computerized" and just off. The notes sound backwards or just off. I am not enough of a music geek to know how to describe it. |
Burn and Machine Head

^^^ Yeah...Machine Head was their best.

I have most of their albums/CDs, but I almost wore my copy of Perfect Strangers out when I was just out of high school.

DP over UH
My first concert was March 4th, 1967. I was 13. Paul Revere and the Raiders. |
Don't forget Jethro Tull. That's an odd band, but man, they had some great stuff.

I’ve seen the original Deep Purple but never together.
Saw Whitesnake, Ian Gilliam, and Rainbow in Europe back in the early 80’s. They all had the talent. |
When I was in Bamberg Germany in the O.D. green, when this song came on in a nightclub/ disco people would go nuts, jam up on the dance floor . Good times.....good times........

I first saw Deep Purple when they were touring for the album Machine Head. It was easily my favorite era. As far as I’m concerned, they were in a class of their own, no other bands compared to what they wrote and how they played. I saw virtually every hard rock band that toured in that era and even bands like Led Zeppelin couldn’t compare in a live show.
I think Machine Head was their best album, although Burn and Stormbringer from that era had some good cuts. Perfect Strangers had to be the best album put out by any band making a return to the original lineup (Original in the sense of returning to their best lineup.) I have to say I was really bummed when the world lost Jon Lord, he was irreplaceable. I’ve listened to three of the cuts from the latest album and I don’t find anything interesting there. |
