So is the floor going to be below the top of the forms there currently? I'm trying to figure out exactly what the plan is here?

Are you running any water/plumbing ? What about internet ?

1990C4S 07-14-2020 02:10 PM

RWebb 07-14-2020 02:48 PM

only about 400 miles.

RWebb 07-14-2020 04:41 PM

where is Sea Isle?

sure I could float it, but you wouldn't want to see the result...

but I was talking about the heavy duty mucking before float work

anywho - have fun!

Fastfred, need to ask this again, the way you are making the form for the footer seems strange to me, from what I have seen it is usually more of a upside down T so you can place the load bearing part below the frostline and get the support for the wall high above ground without wasting too much cement, looks like yours is the other way. Just want to check, easy to change now.

The ground for my workshop was just one of the rebar sections bent up and out of the footer placed just under where the breaker panel is placed.

Still have no idea what I am doing, but busting ass all summer . Just poured 27 yards of concrete in this big hole in my yard. I will be very happy to not be working on the ground anymore .
I get home from vacation on the 21 st, Ill remove all the forms, and start to erect the building .
I have done this whole shebang 100% solo, up till today, where I had my buddy Alan help me manage the crete. No way I could have done it alone.
Hopefully the pics of the footer and rebar give a better idea of what I was doing. I followed the plans to the T. I went down below frost line .
I bent rebar for over a month of weekends, and nights . I can see why the concrete guy quoted me what he did .http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1599846084.jpg

Oh, and R Webb was no where to be found when I needed help mucking the crete.

Looks like you put a lot of steel in there. Also looks GREAT!
Enjoy your vacation.

Looking good! Great job bracing those forms and forming the bar!

vash 09-11-2020 10:28 AM

you all dont need to anchor the mud plate?

looking good..in CA there would be threaded bar sticking out of that thing.

The building comes with metal plates that anchor to the footer. This style can use anchor bolts, instead of having to embed the bolts into the concrete. One less thing to worry about when I was pouring ,
Now, I get to hammer drill about 200 holes .
I would never do a quonset hut again, but the building was given to me . The footer was a giant pia, but I think the structure will go up pretty easy .
If I ever do another garage, or add on, I will do traditional style stick built

RWebb 09-11-2020 10:48 AM

will you embed hydronic heat in the concrete?

got it. if i lived closer, i would be there to help.. looks like a fun project, and there would be TWO of us that have no idea what we are doing.

I don’t know why you bent all the rebar yourself. You know you can call a rebar supplier to deliver all of your rebar cut to size and pre-bent, right?
