You prolly want to keep it if you ever decide to sell.

I was looking hard at the Pyramid trigger kit for my Glock 19/Poly80 build. But I can't bring myself to sink so much more into it than it would cost to buy a new Glock 19. It's never gonna be my go-to or main EDC or even main back up gun. It's more like a safe deposit box gun for when the rest of them get lost in a boating accident. Still, I hate owning guns that can be made better.

I know there are Chevy and ford people and never the Twain shall meet. Been shooting since the 70’s (hiPower and Python, first 2 acquisitions ). I have never fired a Glock that appealed to me, of any caliber. Just zeroed in a Glock 10mm for my neighbor and like every Glock I’ve fired my trigger finger gets a bite from the trigger guard and trigger.
This is what I just picked up. And yes I’ve fired reworked Glocks.......no love for striker fired pistols. I have a 1911 that was built in 1917 which I would choose over any striker fired pistol. My 2 cents..............which you can just leave on the counter Rich |
VP9s have great triggers, for striker guns. But IME lots of striker gun triggers feel great when you dry fire them, but not great at all with live ammo. I've rented a VP9 and I still think my SIG P365's trigger feels better with live ammo than any other striker gun I've tried. Though the nicest dry firing striker trigger was my first SIG P320.

Early Walther PPS 9mm 6+1 single stack. Can get extended mags if you wish. Early PPS mag release is the little lever at the bottom of the trigger guard. Not an issue. Later versions of the PPS have the standard button for mag release. Sweet shooter.

Then there is the Walther PPK/S 9mm kurz (aka 380) Stainless version. 6+1 magazine. A bit on the heavy side but that can be a good thing regarding recoil. Another sweet shooter.

Not a 9, but a 45. A Springfield Armory XD-S Mod 2 in 45ACP, 6+1 magazine. Again, a sweet shooter even with the heavy recoil.

Glocks shoot fine in my hand. I just prefer the weight of steel. I love my Belgian FN Hi-Power. It does need the magazine disconnect removed and a trigger job. But still a great pistol. My MECGAR mags hold 15, not 13 like the original mags. 9mm with minimal recoil.

I was on Springfield's site browsing and found a XD-M Elite with ambi slide release. Called around and none of the local indoor ranges have one to shoot. I suppose shooting the XD with the right hand slide release would give me a good feel for the weapon so I might go shoot one to see how I like it. Same range has a CZ P10F used but they want 439 for it. That seems PAINFULLY high for a used pistol but then again they wanted 600+ for the XDM Elite which is high based on the prices I'm finding online. I have a friend who is licensed to sell so I might have to see what he can get me one for or see if I can have it shipped to him.

A lot of people have mentioned hammer vs striker. What are the pros and cons for each. Just trying to learn as much as I can before "pulling the trigger" on a purchase. |
