Staples shipping. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Needed ink for my printer. Free shipping, why go out?

At least it wasn't full of Styrofoam.

Amazon does the same thing sometimes.

I've heard (here, I think) that the reason Amazon folks do it is because their time to pick/ship items is closely monitored, and it takes more time to go back and get a box that's sized right than to just use the box that you've got.

That kind of packing works out well for me. I slice up the side panels and use them to mount my sticky targets onto for range practice.

I guess I was brought up not to be wasteful. They could have stuffed it in a padded envelope and it would have fit in the mailbox.

But that would have required the over-worked min. wage stuffer-guy to expend 0.2 seconds in thought. Even if capable of it, he doesn't have time.

RadioShack used to be the worst. I worked in an independently owned store and we’d get a box that size with one tiny pack of capacitors in it. Made absolutely no sense the way they shipped things.

Maybe that’s why they went under lol.

to be honest. pelican parts once sent me that seal in the nose of our 915 transmissions in a big box full of stuffing. it was comical, then i saw the shipping cost and it was less funny. but all was good when it slid into place.

My last shipment from Pelican included a front hood release cable tube, bent piece of tubing about 50 inches long with a bend about 40 inches down.

It came in a box that was about 48 x 24 x 6 inches with only the tube in it....even though I had a whole pile of smaller parts that could very easily been packed in with it, but were in other equally loosely packed boxes.

But what the heck, it was free shipping...just does not make sense

Dennis
