Just not a 2+2. They look weird.

And I personally prefer 65 and earlier - I don't like the herniated headlights.

![]() Restored and sold a '62 Roadster in the late '80's....Not an expert, but sorted a lot of things out. One issue I recall. It lost oil pressure when you revved, it pretty high.......Turned out the coil wire was too close to the wire for the oil pressure.........Lucas crap........

If I remember correctly they have a inner sill rust issue that previous owners like to hide.

Rear main seal is a biatch to replace. I had a 'creampuff '68 that I sold to a guy in Germany about 5 years ago.

No 2+2. A 1964 coupe. Total bare metal restoration to a non standard blue color with grey interior. Non-matching drive train, but from correct year. Mini lite style wheels and front bumper delete. Lots of upgrades during the resto. Not for the purist maybe, but more Hotrod-ish in our community. I think all the body panels are from the same car except for the front hood. Somewhat of a bitsa car maybe.
Wondering what to look for/ask when I go look at it. Also wondering if it’s priced right. It’s in Hemmings. Can’t miss it. |

Who cares if it's not stock? Get one while you can. I had a 64 roadster basket case in '78 which I stupidly traded for a wood boat I lived on for a year or so. A 55 and 56 XK140 roadster too. Wish I had kept just one of them.

There are a couple of photos of the tub in bare metal. I do not see any rust repair. Car really looks solid and I actually do not mind at all it is not stock. Love the color combo actually. And as you can see looking under my user ID here, I like hotrods.

Yeah, right? I think it would even look better by putting D Type wheels on it.

This forum was helpful to me several years ago when I was working on a 77XJ. However, it boiled down to one or two guys that added the real value.

Yep, I'm a new member there. It appears that everything at least firewall rearward is from the same car. I am not sure on the front subframe and clip. Ad doesn't mention it, but I will find out. Engine is from a 64 and the number is a -9, which I think means 9:1 compression ratio. Gearbox is a period correct Moss unit, but neither are matching to the original chassis. My dilemma is figuring out what the value is for a non-matching numbers E Type. I don't care that they don't match, just need to figure out what is a fair number so I can start there.

Now in 993 land ...

Bring a Trailer has the highest prices you can find. They keep all their sales on record. If I were you, I would go through the last year's worth, sold / unsold, enter them in a spread sheet and see what you find. I would look to see how non-original / hot rod versions fare on price.
https://bringatrailer.com/jaguar/xke-series-1/ I thought the Jag people were purists, but there was a stunning restomod with a FORD engine ![]() ![]() https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1964-jaguar-xke-coupe-8/ This car is on my bucket list. It looks like it is taking off into unattainable territory. G |
