Apple quick-take 200 camera
 

This is a long-shot. I have 1 pic of my kids I'd like to get off of a memory card. I have a reader, but no drivers work on any of the computers I still own.

2MB SmartMedia flashRAM card, does not fit in any of the universal readers I have, or can find on Amazon. This card is 4 times the size of a typical memory card.

Any ideas?

Is it a compact flash aka cf card?

How about a picture?

Edit. Looked it up. It is an SSFDC card. Never seen one. But, I bet a local shop that prints or converts to paper may have a reader.

if not try a big shop in NYC

on the West Coast, places like Richard's Photo service pros using medium and large format film and have lots of digital storage device options too

there is bound to be a place like that in the City

It's the 8" floppy of memory cards......

I've got several Teac 17-in-1 MMC card readers that'll read it. However, they're for internal PC bays - and happen to have a proprietary USB interface.

Buy something like this USB 2.0 card reader for $15:

try the Walgreens photo department

Tried Staples, Walgreens, Costco and calling a few local camera shops. This doesn't fit the universal readers, I've looked all over Amazon also.

It's a SmartMedia card. They were sort of aligned as a floppy replacement (smaller, faster, more robust) back in the day, but didn't really take off..

Compare the widths of the SM/SD card slots in the reader front-panel photo.

Hint: the line of cards shown along the bottom of the reader photo are for card identification and aren't to scale.

Then look at the photo of the SM card and the SD card dad posted.

It's an SM card.

It is smart media. Dug out the digital calipers and measured. It does not fit in any of the newer readers I have, nor anything at the local print places.

However, it's 5v not 3.3, notch is on the opposite corner of the card than the 'newer ones'.

I found the reader I used to use, a Sandisk Imagemate SDDR-09, newest drivers are windows 98, OS 9

Of course somewhere along the line I updated my mac laptop to os10. Of course I tossed the win98s and older a few months ago.

I suppose I'll have to take a chance reading the 5v card in a newer reader. Thank you.

Oh, so you've got a reader?

Linux not only doesn't trash drivers for no good reason, for USB it also will generally recognize the class and do a half-way respectable job of driving most USB devices with a generic driver if it doesn't have an entry for it.

Find any PC with a USB interface.
Down load a bootable Linux image; create a bootable media and use it.
Plug Sandisk reader in.
Copy files where ever you want (Cloud, Email, USB thumb drive, burn a CD etc).
