Snowpiercer

I caught all except the first 15 minutes.
So, what is the deal? I understand there is an ice age on the Earth but why must the train be moving?

It's written and directed by Bong Joon Ho of 'Parasite' fame.
It's a great movie dealing with the two different classes of people on earth....same as in 'Parasite'
Why the train keeps moving?...I don't know, but it makes for a super great movie.

The ads make it look like the same tired class warfare sci fi plot that’s been beat to death in a thousand less goofy movies. Pass.

No idea why the train can’t stop. Because macguffin.

I was excited about this show, set the box to record the series.

I made it through about a half hour and deleted it and I want my half-hour back.
Perpetual motion train that couldn't stop. That should have tipped me off right there. Failed experiment to stop global warming. Minus 120 degrees outside. Uh huh. Plenty of stoopid to go around.

I'm surprised ms. Connelly signed up for it. Truth be known she's the only reason I was interested in the first place but her bit part wasn't enough to make up for the politically correct cliches. So weak.

I didn't know at the time that it was based on a movie that came out several years ago, flop that went straight to vid.
Big surprise.

I was talking about the new TV series that debutt-ed last Sunday on TNT.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snowpiercer_(TV_series)

Snowpiercer is an American post-apocalyptic dystopian thriller television drama series that premiered on TNT on May 17, 2020. It is based on both the 2013 South Korean-Czech film of the same name, directed by Bong Joon-ho, and the 1982 French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, from which the film was adapted, by Jacques Lob, Benjamin Legrand, and Jean-Marc Rochette.

The series, a reboot of the film's continuity, follows the passengers of the Snowpiercer, a gigantic, perpetually moving train that circles the globe carrying the remnants of humanity seven years after the world becomes a frozen wasteland. Snowpiercer questions class warfare, social injustice, and the politics of survival.

Just saw your edit. Below is about the movie.

Things get better after a half hour. The middle is really enjoyable.

The last half hour is odd but it's Korean and we are not used to their movie culture.

+1 on perpetual motion train could not stop. Also some discussion on end of train people could get to the front from outside if train stopped.

Why did they need a perpetually moving (the description says perpetually moving as opposed to motion) train?
The TV show had a lot of credibility issues if you understand physics but its a TV show for the masses.

Ever notice how most if not all movies set in the future are centered around a dystopia caused by worldwide disaster, alien attack, machines taking over, and in general a survive under extreme condition or die setting. I guess if everything was doing great then it wouldn't be exciting to watch. Funny how scientist and politicians preach that mankind is getting smarter and better so we will have a great society but the movies always predict the opposite?

Finally, IMO, the last thing people need during a pandemic is something that feeds the spirit of fear. I was curious so I watched the first one but I won't be back.

I'm guessing they were trying to say "Stop the box. Get off the train. And go live a full life somewhere else."
Just a guess..IDK.

I don't require a GoldenHarvest/ChowBros/Disney/Nolan level of ADD random chaos to make a film entertaining, but some of those French movies literally have half an hour of making crepes and doing the laundry before the viewer is given the basic plot. Yawn. Where are we trying to be going here? No really what am I watching and why was money spent on this garbage?

"Gerry" was another small artsy film without plot. Painful to get through the first time but made more sense the next around.

If a film is better the second time..it has succeeded.

I watched the movie and liked it. Saw the first episode of the series and meh. Jen Connelly does not look very good.

There was a write-up - I believe on reddit a while back - where someone proposed that the Snowpeircer movie (which the series is based upon) was actually a continuation of the Willey Wonka Chocolate Factory movie. The author proposing this somewhat preposterous idea actually had a lot of evidence that supported his theory.

Great movie with an interesting plots twist at the end.
In their world you can't live outside because of the cold...

The train has to keep moving so the people on board have purpose.
Maybe there's more to it than that but that's what I got from the movie.

I watched the first episode and half of the second. I don't think I'll be watching any more of it. Not my cup of tea!

Snowpiercer is one of my favorite movies.
The ending will be reminiscent of the pandemic when it's all over.

Another strange one is "The Platform" on Netflix. Those on the top get the best foods and wines, as the elevator moves down, it becomes rotten food and chicken bones...
