2019 Boxster

Drove one today with my friend who wants to get a new Boxster. Brand new 2019 with 113 miles. It was a base car with PDK.

Impressions. Best thing I can say about the car is it is tight. Superb, confident handling. Inline 4 sounds like a Subaru. It sounded horrible. Fairly anemic. It was really not that quick, or certainly not as quick as I thought it would be. Overall disappointed. My friend liked it but it had 2 way adjustable seats. She's 5'0". We tested seat height in a 14-way seat and it goes a lot higher so it immediately became off the table. Sales guy said the seats go to the same height. Don't understand that, it was too easy to test. They were also not interested in swapping silver wheels onto the car (black) for her which was before seat testing.

It's not, neither is a Subie.

Flat, opposed BOXER 4.

Thanks, that's funny! That's what the salesman said and I guess it stuck in my head.

So you knew more about the car than the salesman?

Inconceivable!

I drove my ten year old 911 with fixed carbon buckets today and it still puts a huge grin on my face. Had an older lady, 60+ I’m guessing, roll the window down in her minivan and tell me how “cute” my car was. It was hilarious.

I’d like for a slightly used S that’s a few years older with the 6.

I drove my 36 year old M491 to the dealership today. 36 years old? No interior, 1 fixed back Momo, it was a hit with the sales guys. One took a ton of pics. They all loved it. Wanted to know if it was fast. I laughed and talked about Honda minivans.

the new cars are real gems, Porsche has done a great job with the 991 and the other models on the floor. GT4 looked purpose-built amazing.

I’ve heard the newer ones are missing something though. I wouldn’t mind someone giving me a new 911 Turbo but they are all PDK.

Get what you mean about the older cars being a hit, while mines a 997, it’s rare enough that it draws attention at the local small Porsche/VW/Audi dealership the few times I have taken it in.

I love my Boxster S, but there's nothing quite like the air cooled cars. I loved my old '88.

I'd love a GT4 (or GT3 or GT2), but I'm not likely to be spending that sort of money on a car any time soon.

I love my 02 Boxster S but mine is far from stock . I have had two air cooled 911's , a 914/6 clone and a 87 944S and the Boxster is the best of the bunch in my opinion . With my 282 + hp at the wheels I have all the performance I can handle . She sounds great and handles like she's on rails . Has great HVAC along with heated seats . Rowing through the 6 speed manual gearbox is magical . Throw on my color matched hard top and she's quiet in the cab .

Don't get me wrong I have loved every Porsche I have owned , but my Boxster is special . There is something to be said about an excellent balance between performance/comfort/reliable/fuel mileage/safety . The past few days here in GA. where I live it has been 95-97 degrees out and HUMID !!! Fire up the old gal , put on the AC and head for a 55 mile loop through the mountains . It is heaven on wheels .

I drove a manual 718 GTS up PCH the other day - it blew me away with handling, acceleration, fit, finish.
