BBS made in a statement, placing blame for its current troubles on the COVID-19 pandemic, that they found themselves in financial trouble due to the “sudden omission of confirmed payments.”

The move was a "necessary step to prevent an imminent insolvency within the coming months due to the sudden omission of confirmed payments," according to the statement. BBS cites the "tough market environment" caused by the coronavirus pandemic—along with the accompanying temporary shutdown of the company's two plants—as the main factors for its current situation.

BBS says prior to filing for its insolvency, the company "initiated an extensive turnaround strategy for the whole company," which it plans to continue following. It's been appointed two insolvency administrators, one of which played a part in restructuring the company after it filed for bankruptcy in 2011.

When I first saw the title of the OP, I thought it was Briggs and Stratton, the small engine maker.

I toured the factory in the late 80's and it was by far the largest square ft under roof facility I had ever seen. Still tops my list, unbelievable.

Such an iconic brand let's hope they are saved and tuned up for longevity.

I was surprised by how many new Porsches come with BBS wheels. I think most of the water cooled Porsche wheels I've seen the back of were BBS wheels. I always just thought of racing wheels.
