Have any of you had an insurance claim since covid ?
I had two wrecked cars towed in here in the last few weeks. I am not a body shop, so I do not really deal with the insurance companies on a regular basis .
The adjuster asked if I could send him a few photos . He then went on to tell me what he wanted photos of . 4 corners, front , sides, rear, interior , engine, speedometer, vin # all 4 tires, pictures of undercarriage, and damages to the body, both underside, and visible . His email address would not take the photos when I tried to send them the first time, so then he got all pissy with me about sending them over asap. I tried to politely inform him, that I am busy doing my own job at the moment, and cant just drop everything . By the time we took all the photos, converted them, and then sent them , we had close to an hour wrapped up in it . Second car, different insurance company, they asked me to do the same thing. Are they no longer dispatching adjusters ?

Can't comment on the question you posed, but I would have been irked, too. Something similar happened to me this week at work, where I wasted an hour of time doing scutwork for someone else. That's an hour less I have to spend on stuff that's important to me, just to make the life of someone else (with whom I have no relationship) easier.

My sister in law does claims for a company that is well known. She has been working about 10-20% of average as the auto losses are so low.
I turn in claims every week for my clients. No changes that I have seen. |

Yeah. Not at fault from gieco. 4 corners, damage, vin, registration, odo.
They sent me a quote from their internal quoting system, and when I gave them a real quote from a shop they said to pound sand. They refused to come out and look at the car. Currently suing them/the lady that hit me for the difference in small claims...

I just upped collector insurance on one of my cars (haven't updated it since 2002....went from 9k to 30k insurance value). State farm normally sends an appraiser out. They asked for pictures of the front, back, sides, interior and engine. 2 days later I got my new policy for 30k.
I used to manage a body shop, and state farm was always best to deal with. I acted as adjuster for them, with an inspection from them every once in a while so they knew I wasnt hosing them.

How much are they paying you to take the photos?

I have filed two auto claims within the last 6 months. One back in February and one just a few weeks ago. Both times no adjuster came out to assess the damage. My auto body guy says this is the trend nowadays.

Yes, most property damage only claims are being adjusted through photos these days unless the damage is too complex and hidden. The computers know what needs to be replaced by the cosmetic damage and the make/model of car. Frequently on low dollar claims they ask the insured to email phone camera pictures. The body shop gets quoted a flat rate for the repair. They accept the repair on that basis and have the opportunity for more work if more damage is uncovered. As long as the shop is on the insurance company’s pre-approved list, they’ll do it all based on photos. If not, they do the initial quote based on photos and send an adjuster out only if there is additional damage that doesn’t show on the photos.
Big brother AI photo interpretation programs are scary powerful. This is just the way insurance companies are handling claims these days. It doesn’t have anything to do with Covid. It was already the way insurance companies adjusted property damage claims.

Geico and Progressive. Add a GPS tracking app now, tied to phone and computer and bloodstream, before we cancel you unexpectedly.
State Farm and Allstate. Machine stamped "denied". YMMV of course. Only a gerneralized opinion from what I've read.
