Portable grocery-gettin’ checklist?

Sooner or later 07-24-2020 04:42 PM

Grocery list

Shaun @ Tru6 07-24-2020 04:43 PM

yeah, I thought it was pretty neat.

First generation smartphone... without the phone?

Where did you find that? It's pretty cool.

MBAtarga 07-24-2020 05:54 PM

Interesting that "MATCHES" make the list. I guess for lighting the gas stove? And no beer or wine on the list.

Shaun @ Tru6 07-24-2020 06:03 PM

My guess is it was made after Birdseye invented flash frozen food in 1924 and before the end of Prohibition in 1933, though a lot of places in the US were dry back then I think.

Esel Mann 07-24-2020 06:03 PM

lol, cab, grocery list, not total wine list

masraum 07-24-2020 08:59 PM

"What is this?"

Pretty darn cool, that's what it is.

It has bacon, I'd say it's fairly much complete.

My mother had one of those. I don't remember the brand name, but it was white with red slides. She never used it.

It is a big waste of time, that is what it is..

cabmandone 07-25-2020 03:16 AM

^^^
Not if it prevents you from forgetting to buy bacon!

The funny thing is, wouldn't paper and a pen be easier?? Still cool though.

Por_sha911 07-25-2020 04:38 AM

Where's ammo?

MBAtarga 07-25-2020 06:48 AM

It's missing Broccoli, Cauliflower, Avocados and a whole mess of other things too

vash 07-25-2020 06:57 AM

Is the booze list on the other side?

On a serious note, that is very cool. No real processed foods. Like : hot pockets.

Sorta like the dial inside the milkbox that went thru the wall into the kitchen or back porch when milk and eggs, etc. were delivered by the milkman.

The selection menu:

I know my house had one but I haven't found where it was. My last old house had one and the cat used it to go in and out.

I remember my grandparents had one of those (a little different - it had detented sliders and a more expansive list, was about the size of a 3x5 index card) - and the text was in Danish.

No, liquor list is a separate 'device'.

It's like the Rosetta Stone, we can use it to translate the strange ways they spelled food back in the turn of the century.
"Potatoes". Ha! Crazy historic people. "Catsup"? What, was this thing written in Sanskrit?
