5 against 1!

there are five of us that agree from an engineering standpoint.

one guy that doesn't understand the specifications and will not budge. i am allowed to dink the contractor a few bucks penalty. he wants the impossible fixed.

i am shocked!! shocked i tell you. i sent him the documents with the applicable sections highlighted. all five of us tried to convince him. no budging.

basically, the situation is like a big truck tire. 10 lugs..one lug is at 25% capacity, but mathematically working together with the other nine lugs, they keep the tire on fine. he wants us to remove that one lug and stud, and fix it. now imagine the truck is moving. hahha..

i need a retirement countdown clock now!! eye on the prize. eye on the prize.

i'm going back to the beer thread now.

Jack Reacher says it's really 3 against 1.

Mayber he wants to push against the odds & if it gets resolved the way he wants in the end, he can crow about it to his higher ups & look good. Some people employ that strategy.

I’m so past this design, bid, build paradigm. I’ve got to figure out a way to earn a living.

The amount of time and energy that goes into covering everyone’s collective ass is ridiculous.

That's some crazy stunt. I kept thinking about what if they dropped that back tire as they fumbled with getting it back in place.

Would think it's challenging keeping it in ballence as the guys moved around.

Glad to see they are wearing masks for viral safety.

Cheers Richard

If you like DBB try design-build. That’s the rage now (again). Worst damn procurement method ever devised for 90% of the projects I’ve seen it used on. Unless you’re a sleazebag contractor, then maybe it’s a good thing. It’s horrible for the architect, design engineers and owner (and end user(s) usually).

Sorry, getting jaded again... I’ll be happy when the design-build “fad” goes out of vogue again and owners are on to the next “new” bottle of snake oil (probably CM-at-risk... again)

:D:D No kidding!

I was more impressed by how the driver got the car on two wheels than the actual ‘stunt’.
Pretty slick move.

On topic: I’d want that tenth bolt fixed too. But I wouldn’t be pigheaded about it.

Very likely the reason he needs new tires !

My single experience was very positive but we had a very good partnership with the client.

I’m curious what your experiences were that were so negative.

Feel free to PM if the OP doesn’t want the thread hijacked further.
