Mike Brewer's World of Cars
Gotta say I really like his new show. Much slower more thoughtful pacing with what seems to be largely focused on the 'craftsmen' of our hobby. So far very different from the 30 min infomercials so common in TV land.
Anyone else see it? Let me know your thoughts.

I haven't seen any episodes, but I always watched "Wheeler Dealer" for Ed China, and then Ant, I always thought Mike was a buffoon in a hurry !

Best of luck with his new show but I can’t stand the guy.
The first couple of years of Wheeler Dealers he always seemed to treat Edd as his lackey. Edd carried the show and was the only reason I watched.

I watched a couple of the shows.
The automotive content is right up my alley but that guy just rubs me the wrong way. I can’t stand to listen to him talk ! That would be a great show with another host. |

I've tried several times to watch it.
I got through one or two episodes, one in particular I liked was where they made replacement parts for the minis. But most episodes have simply not been worth the time and effort it took to watch them. They were just too bad. His new car flipping show is almost as weak. Ant's show where they made a complete car was awesome, except they blew it in the final reveal. I look forward to more shows from ANThony, for mike .... not so much. Someone needs to tell Mike that they only thing that was good about wheeler dealers was the tech stuff where they worked on cars and fixed cars, his car flipping part was nothing more than a drag on the show. And let him know that flippers are generally one step below used car salesmen on a corner lot. |

I met Mike Brewer a couple years ago at the Phoenix Club during the LA Lit Show week, which is REALLY fun for Porsche fans in SoCal. Almost EVERY shop you've ever heard of does an open house, and there's really cool events from Monday through Sunday all week. Tons of drives, swaps, and shop tours.
On Sunday, there's a parts swap meet at a German-themed restaurant called "The Phoenix Club" that everyone shows up to. I was getting something out of my car and he came up and said "That's YOURS???" and we talked about it for a few minutes. Later, I interviewed him on my Solopreneur Hour Podcast and we got to know each other a bit. We've stayed in touch, and I wanted to show him my new space in Long Beach, so he stopped by, we drank whiskey and listened to my KEF LS50 speakers for 3 hours and talked music and told stories, then on the way out the door I asked if he'd do the intro to my latest YouTube video. Thankfully, he wasn't TOO buzzed at the time, lol. Mike is a REAL car nut, and takes a WORLD of $h!t from people online (some would say bullying...right down to rape and death threats against his wife and daughter) but without him there'd be no Wheeler Dealers (it's his show) and not as much great automotive content out there. He is a REALLY sweet guy, so it's a shame. But I think he's cool AF, and I'm glad to call him a friend.

I once spoke with Mike for a bit after attending a classic car forum he participated in. I agree that this guy has gasoline running in his veins. He seemed really sincere and totally passionate about cars, and he's been the creative and driving force behind all of his many TV shows over the years. That being said, I'll usually fast-forward to the workshop stuff with Edd or Ant whenever I watch a recorded episode of WD.

I don't disagree that Mike loves and is passionate about cars. It still doesn't make his on camera part of the show watchable. It really adds no value to the content. I'm glad the show exists and will continue to watch, but will skip over the scripted shrewd negotiating BS at the beginning and end. Not a lot of great car content on the small screen. Producers haven't figured out that the cars are the stars.
I recently saw Ed has some YouTube content where he's reviewing Euro vans... wasted talent. He needs to be back behind the wrenches, er, spanners. |

I am sure he would be a great guy to knock back a few pints with. His on air persona is a bit frantic for my taste. I bet it will be a good show though.

I like the new show, get MT 'free' as part of my overpriced DirecTV package.

I do agree, I really enjoyed the Edd China part of the show, but I recognized Mike was the business man of the show. While I love business, cars are my first love. Should I ever meet him in person, I would happily buy him a beer and thank him for bringing these great shows to broadcast. Regarding the people on the internet who bully him, they are wussies who get brave behind a keyboard, Mike has the balls to take the risk of creating his own show, and for that he deserves our respect. Emptyo, if you should see mike again, tell him if he is ever in the NYC city area, he's got free drinks and dinner on me...and an opportunity to drive any or all of my cars.

I saw the first episode. I didn’t realize it was on OnDemand through Comcast. Maybe last I looked they haven’t published it.
It’s a good show to pass the time, especially these days when we’re all staying home. |
