Does your dog like being washed?
Mine feels it’s like torture. He sits relatively still and takes it, but he whines like the biggest baby. The neighbors probably contemplated calling dog patrol. :).
Here is the irony. We had to wash him because he swam off into a stinky duck pond. He loves swimming. Man he’s looking good! Good dog day! He’s tired, wiped out. Long walk around water with the occasional water excursion. |
Oh yeah.... she jumps in every pond and creek she sees. I think I washed my last Lab two times in 14 years.... a hose bath to get the mud off... didn't have a pond handy :D.
I heart Labs.... self-cleaning mutts that they are... |
I turn on the sprinkler for our border collie. She will jump and play in it all darn day if you let her.
Shut off sprinkler, lather her up with some doggie soap and turn the sprinkler back on. Self rinsing dog... |
We have to dachshunds. They enjoy thier baths. My wife puts a treat on the counter next to the sink in the laundry room. They snarf the treat as soon as they are put in the sink. They stand their patiently and enjoy getting toweled off. She does the short-haired one first, and them the long-haired one. She whines the entire time he is getting a bath and wants to get hers started right away.
Clipping toenails is a different story. |

Korey seems to be fine with it as long as I don’t take too long. Full size treat right afterwards.

3 labs..
one pool... suds are for.. rolled in something or skunked... Rika |
|
Taking a shower, the door slides open and my wife says “the dog smells weird”. she chucks him in and walks off.
Boundaries people! |
Suds are for drinking while the Labs are in the pool. I can't remember the last time I've seen or smelled a skunk here.... it's like they all moved to Texas :).

take your dog swimming
once he's all wet, lather him up - he'll like being rubbed then back to swimming |

Our lab loves to stand in the hose on "mist" or "shower" if it is hot out and she will stand there to get bathed if she must. The beagle on the other hand. No. Growing up I had a beagle you couldn't keep out of the water and he was OK with baths. He was also great at retrieving your line if you were fishing. It was not so helpful.

getting skunked is no longer an issue..
Lady has a oil mix's on hand.... wet..rub..rinse.. no smell..seriously.. good skunk recipe for other''s.... Dawn (clear )..baking soda...mix's.. rub all over..rinse.. good to go.. Rika |
My guys do. Then they enjoy going nuts afterwards.

I run them twice a day.. rain or shine .. then we do the pool.. tired dog ..is a good dog.. Rika |
My golden retrievers put up with it. Unfortunately the female looks for the first stinky thing or pile of dirt to roll in as soon as she’s finished being washed.
|
Maya does not like bocha time. I just have to say the word and she goes inside and sits on the couch. My sister's cat OTOH would scream bloody murder. I swear my neighbors thought I was torturing him.

None of my dogs have liked being bathed. One would hang out in the pool, but only if there was a float for him. He would lay right next to the tub if the grandkid was getting a bath, but that was a guard duty thing. |
