And you know, I have seen some people in the past few months with no more awareness than those turtles.

Cool. What kind is the guy that's bringing up the rear?

ckelly78z 08-04-2020 08:08 AM

No one is evidently scaring them into compliance, they don't watch the "turtle evening news" !

They're all Sliders. That one (along with the biggest one) is a map slider...I don't know why or what it stands for, but the other two are red-eared sliders.

We had a low 50's night and now the sun is out strong. The turtles won't budge from their spot all day long now...gotta get those rays.

Ah, ok. Is that the guy that got his leg sucked?

He looks so different. Much darker with a very different pattern of scutes and frilled edges. Very cool.

No..the one on the bottom of the pile, with the foot in his face, is that one. He seems to be doing fine...although he is much more timid since that happened.

I think I have two males in the group...the one with the foot in his face and the one with the foot.
Look at the toe-nails on those two...

The biggest one..(closest to the plants) is definitely a female. (As is the one in the rear). She laid these eggs last year...

a map's turtle shell color pattern looks like a map

I have one that volunteered into my yard
[ no idea if bird drop or just crawled in the fenced yard]
so I added it to my koi pond/pool

it escaped for two weeks recently but did not leave the yard
must have climbed out on the bird net that fell
and was a bit dry and hungry when found but no worse for it's adventure
