Need a new email...HELP

I decided that I’m not giving my personal email out to one more business in this lifetime. It’s already ruined w 99% spam everyday but still, no mas. Every time you do it, you’re giving away something that the business will sell to others for profit.

Anyhow, I tried to get a hotmail account and discovered that it’s now outlook. Ok, no problem...I’ll set up one of those. Just anything that isn’t my personal account. Every single potential email address I put in popped up a warning that it was part of a “reserved domain” or some schit. I put in really obscure, non-sensical words and same thing.

Can anyone recommend a simple, free email to use these days? TIA.

I use Zoho since it builds into some business solutions and apps my company uses.

Everything is a trade-off. Zoho has worked extremely well for me on al the platforms I use.

Great spam filter as well.

My primary personal email is Gmail. It gets 98% spam, or if not technically spam, it’s commercial emails from LA Times, Bring a Trailer, every airline, etc. Every business I’ve ever had to give my email out to plus the ones they sold it to.

The only way to get another gmail is to open another, separate google acct. Looking for a simple hotmail. Thanks.

I had a few listed different email providers listed. Then I checked the web and found that this seems to list several of them, so maybe a little light reading

Hotmail (Outlook) works fine here, and they give you the option for several separate "alias" addresses under one account. Same goes for AT&T/Yahoo...

I'd do something like "slyrussianhacker@yahoo.com" That should cut down on the junk mail.

MBAtarga 08-06-2020 05:30 PM

I've set up an email as "spam"lastname@domain.com - which I use for populating email for things that are not personal/important.

I don't even bother with checking the account - anything going to it is going to either be spam or garbage.

I’m right there with you. I’m using a bellsouth.net from 2000.

I finally went and actually started using the "unsubscribe" links on the bottom of all of those emails, and at least 50% of them actually unsubscribed me. Might try putting in some sweat equity ;)

I use the HELL outta that, I have 5 alias emails on my old hotmail account, which I only use for crap anyways. You can have 5 aliases, AND you can delete them and add new ones whenever you want. I cater emails to what I need them to do at any give time. My Gmail is my main, but my old Hotmail is for the dirty work.

Take a look at Protonmail

Denis, I have many gmail accounts, for business, trade shows, and online shopping/forums....like this one. Easy to setup, just keep them separate as you deem necessary. When I owned my own company I created various aliases for the same activities listed above, could deactivate them anytime they lived their purpose. Same for Gmail, easy to just 'forget' that account and move on.

$12 a month gives you your own website and mail server.
Unlimited email addresses...

unclebilly 08-06-2020 08:18 PM

I bet that ‘littleweiner@gmail.com’ is available though I have not checked...

It's not spam.

You opted in.

Start unsubscribing or flag as spam.

Flag as spam/junk will set a filter and you'll stop seeing it.

You'll eventually have the same issue with Hotmail or any "new" account if you don't look for and tick the optout on signup or otherwise actively manage what you sign up for.

Yahoo!

No, don't. It's terrible.

If you only use their web-based portal, I'd probably agree. However, I manage several different (work+personal) email addresses via Outlook (the program), including ones from AT&T/Yahoo that I've had for 20+ years.
No issues at all going that route, and they also give you several "alias" accounts as mentioned previously. YMMV...

From another thread:

"I have 5 gmail email addresses.
One is for all the financial and health care institutions I deal with. Nothing but financial and health care emails in and out. No spam.
One for friends and family. ONLY friends and family in and out. No spam.
One address for stuff that's free if you give your email address. Holy crap the amount of spam I get.
One is for on-line merchandise orders. A fair amount of spam, but not un-managable.
The other one hardly gets used, I haven't really assigned a specific use for it yet.

I'm doing this a lot lately. And it has cutdown on the unwanted commercial e-mail. You can never get rid of the Political stuff...

There's also a trick in gmail where it ignores anything after a "+" sign in the email.
So, your email might be "myemail@gmail.com", but you can also get mail at "myemail+spam@gmail.com" and "myemail+advertisement@gmail.com". It'll all come to your Gmail account, and you can use filters to send it to different folders. You can either keep it separate or destroy it, and you can see who Overstock sold your "myemail+onlyforoverstock@gmail.com" email to...
