What does this wire connect to?

Hi folks. First post ever.
Been working on a 72 911T that sat for a long time.
I have never owned a Porsche before so getting this car sorted out is an exciting journey for me.
There is a wire that is not very long (brown with white stripe) hanging under the dash coming from the steering column. It has a small connector on the end.
It’s not obvious to me where this goes, so I am reaching out here for help..
Thanks in advance..http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1597418889.jpg

You may have more luck posting in the 911 tech forum on this site.
OTOH, there is a crap ton of knowledge right here and someone will probably stop by to offer some help.
Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new find!

I think brown is usually ground on the older Porsches. I can't tell you exactly what it's for. Like Bill said, you'd probably have better luck on the 911 tech forum

Brown is always a ground of some sort, but that is brown with a white stripe. Likely a switch or light that needs a ground. It is not just a generic ground. It likely is the ground wire for a device of some sort.

For sure post it again in the 911 tech area or ask a moderator to move it for you.

Just PM'd the thread to timmy2 asking him to take a peek.

Not sure what to goes to but for sure switched ground circuit. The length that's free should tell you the proximity to what it should plug into, but depending on what accessories the car has, may not go to anything.

yes, brown with a white stripe means a switched gnd wire

it may be a horn wire - IIRC, there are 2 of them when you only need one - at least on a US 1973.5...

We would LOVE to see pics of your car in the 911 area - or anywhere...

See my sig. for the most important things to do

Spare for other country options if your horn works.
Factory rubber is closed at end of terminal if not used.
(As in your photo)
