Cool. I used to do a lot of juggling. I could keep five balls up in the air for a short while and would pass clubs with other jugglers. It was a lot of fun. Then I stopped for years. I got my old clubs out a couple years ago and found out that juggling is not like riding a bike.

The bonus is that it IS okay to try this at home. No animals or humans were harmed...

When watching the video that Paul linked...it led to this one next on youtube. He varies his speed while juggling...very talented!

One thing I noticed is when he "throws" the balls to the cushions, he rolls them straight..like they'd roll with a cue if hit with the tip just above center. If you insert any left or right spin to the balls, they wouldn't roll true off the cushions. Essentially making 1 and 2 cushion bank shots to pull this off.

Tommy Kennedy is a skilled pool player...he understands english well. So, sort of a combination of pool and juggling skills. Had to take a lot of practice to perfect this.

Was hoping to see him actually throwing them in the air.

Fail.

I could never do five, but got good in college with 3/4 and different ways of juggling.

I became fairly decent and passing clubs with one of my roommates. That is a stupid amount of fun.

It has been many, many years

Passing clubs is great fun. I used to do it with three others in a box pattern. Both pairs would pass at the same time but the clubs would rarely hit each other if it was timed perfectly. That was wild.

I learned a lot from my college neighbor, who was so good he had been on TV. He did his routine for a bunch of us in the dorm quad at UCSB. While bowing to the audience at the end, we had an earthquake. Best finale ever!

That is awesome! I would have loved to have tried that!

I can't imagine the visual overload

Gary, the roommate, and I were the only jugglers we knew so it was just us. I remember the first time we got it right with clubs, maybe five passes before a drop...you'd of thought we had landed on the moon.

In flight school I'd juggle three balls (I used wooden polo balls at the times since I had worked for a polo player in HS) while memorizing emergency procedures, know cold stuff, maneuvers, etc.

It really helped.

Thanks for this thread, Paul. I had not thought about my sordid juggling past for years.

That made me laugh hard...

y'know.. it makes sense that a helicopter pilot would be a juggler.
