I put "yes right away" because like the flu shot I won't have much of a choice thanks to my wife.
|
Yeah, not until I can get over the sense of “I am legend” feeling...
|
I'm not anti-vax: I vaxxed my kids and would consider getting the HPV and shingles vaccines. But I also don't think vaccines are risk free (and there are reasons to believe our infant vaccination regimes could be improved/made safer).
The COVID death rate in the general population is less than 0.02%. And I'm fortunate to be in good health with no known risk factors. Low BMI, Low A1c, low BP, high vit D. I think I'll take my chances. Would I recommend my Mom (age 74) get the vaccine. Maybe. Definitely more reasons to consider it. Would not want her to be 1st in line though. |
After Phase Three trials are deemed successful, my wife and I will be there with sleeves rolled up. We want to get back to the old normal ASAP.
|
Why do we need a vaccine when we have masks?
|
Eventually. When there is no doubt in my mind its safe.
|
I'll resist. I use aspirin sparingly.
|
If I am making the decision I would probably wait a little.
But I work in a hospital and I'm finishing my last year of nursing school so it will probably be required as soon as possible. Real question is: Will I be able to work without a mask if I get one? |

Possible I’d be required for work (I do stuff for DoD and a number of alphabet agencies) but if I had my say I’d wait a while until the bugs (no pun) are worked out. |
I can't believe people aren't wearing their masks, and the gubmint needs to keep the country shut down, and pay people lots of money they didn't earn (and don't deserve) to hide in the basement, but I ain't gettin' no vaccine!!!!!

We still have a lot we don’t know about the virus, long term effects, the full extent of damage caused by the bug, susceptibility to reinfection.
What we do know isn’t encouraging, roughly 40 % of transmission is from people that are asymptomatic, and may not even know they have it. Sure, you may be tough, but do you want to be the one to give it to your children, your friends, or croak your mom. I don’t think CDC is going to let a bad vaccine get released after trials, unless the politicians over run the agency. We must stop Covid. I’m taking the shot. |

" we don’t know about the virus, long term effects, the full extent of damage " But a new, short-term tested vaccine... " I don’t think CDC is going to let a bad vaccine get released after trials, IOW, you EXPECT that the virus is likely much worse than it presents... worse then it has demonstrated... and, you TRUST that some to be developed vaccine is likely much safer than it has demonstrated... |

Just for reference, in my hospital, we are not tested for covid unless we have been exposed and show symptoms. |
CDC does not regulate vaccines. The US Food and Drug Administration is responsible for ensuring vaccines are safe and effective, including elements of manufacturing.

Stephanie, that is the way most hospitals are doing the testing. |
Absolutely not.
I’m amazed at how many here seem to trust the govt. |

Only if I'm forced to take it.
I'm healthy and in good shape...I'll roll the dice. |
