Something to consider is the ultrawide monitors out and about these days.
https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/gaming/49--chg90-qled-gaming-monitor-lc49hg90dmnxza/ You'll still lose a little space going down to 32x9 instead of your 48 x 9. But not having a divided space might be worth it. Quote:

Call of Duty = Nazi Zombies Ray gun and a BAR If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand. Lol |
We just got the Halo: Master Chief collection as it was on sale for under $20. Fun to play with the kids coop.
For VR our youngest has been playing a lot of Hotdogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades and I picked up I Expect You to Die which I think my wife might like more. Arizona Sunshine is a lot of fun in VR. Picked up the new MS flight sim but only played a few hours so far. Spin characteristics are pretty good and the scenery is better than X-Plane. |
Ted, I have been eyeing one of these. Need to hold flight controls and driving controls as well as the keyboard and mouse.

Our 12 year old son was making crap out of CoD Vanguard the other day at supper. Evidently you can get an M1 Garand with a drum magazine and pistol grip forstock.

I've played ARMA3 (deadly hide and seek) and seeing what not to do in a company.
B.I. Studios and Steam seem to be intent on sinking their own creation after putting so much into it: 1). The U.I. is spread out with redundant menus which are bewildering at the same time. There is no "verify files installation" button because it's hidden away. Favorite 3rd party servers can't be found or often just dynamically disappear from your saved profile. You have to go to their individual websites or connect through an aggregate gaming site but then the history doesn't appear the next time you play. 2). The few good servers are always jammed up which grinds them to a un-playable 5-25 FPS crawl. (I guess a lot of dynamics are handled server-side instead of locally...but IDK computer stuff.) Instead of making more of what the players really want, they go off in different directions. 3) The game graphics are amazing but little effort was put into making it "fun". Huge gorgeous maps such as the 22GB Khe San, Chernarus, and others are not specifically available in the editor as well i think. The organization is a mess. It does 5 things at once and gets them all wrong. The game goes in all directions at once. 4). You get errors trying to play on official servers with official DownLoadableContent paid for. First they demanded players download a "task force radio" from some sketchy russian website, then the CommunityBasedAddons required for running official mods (but not automatically included and installed, duh) began creating line errors of items such as "bush not found". Just a whole bunch of little things that all should have been fixed automatically before release.... Third party servers usually don't have info on what is needed or how to get it. The game also doesn't had a sandbox de/activate menu for addon items/groups on the DLC tab which would have solved everything from the start. 5). The end result: A lot of the best servers with old familiar players just getting to know are gone with turnover. The official servers are usually complete garbage with poor mission creation, no dynamic probabilities, and not much replay-ability. A lot of cheating happens in PvP, the game cheats and kills you if you get too good, and repeat game crashes or being kicked off for no reason, which leave players frustrated. It's been used as a test-bed for voice spoofing at times using high quality emulators. Other times it felt like a psyche test was occurring and admin was playing with you like a rat. |
I haven't played Insurgency much, but the kids likes it most of the time. Some players are just jerks though.

Games are no different than any other entertainment product. After 30 years in the industry trust me, you can't just say "i'm going to make the perfect game" because everyone starts out with that goal. Literally no one says "lets make a buggy piece of crap" |
My son has a PS5 and we have pre-orderd the latest Gran Turismo game to play, it doesn't come out until March of 2022.
I've been playing Real Racing 3 on my phone for over 10 years now. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

I’m running through Fallout New Vegas again, but this time on hard mode.
|
I love the Fallout series. New Vegas is still fun to play after a decade.
I started Skyrim when it came out and lost interest so I restarted it with a new character |
Just finished modding my Colecovision to give a composite video output so I can play on a modern tv- successful!

Been back on Red Dead 2 lately, just wandering around and hunting. Still blows me away how detailed everything is. Makes it fun to just ride for hours doing nothing important.

Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners in VR, on KatVR treadmill.
|
I’ve been back on DayZ lately, trying different playstyles on community servers. Ran into a group using dayz cheats last weekend—ESP and aimbot stuff, which kind of ruined the competition. Still, when the servers are clean, the survival element is intense and keeps pulling me back in. Building a base with a couple of friends has been a good way to kill time after work.
