TWO tropical storms in the Gulf at once...
On Tuesday, we should have 2 storms in the Gulf at once. It'll be interesting to see how they interact, and if there's enough heat in the water for both.
Of course, that's just what the Southern states need right now...but, we won't have to evacuate any oilrigs, 'cause they're all vacant!

Lived in Tampa for 12 yrs, first year we were there, 3 hurricanes crisscrossed over our house ! I'm intimately familiar with the above charts and spaghetti models... Moved to Cali 5 y ago, and now it's wildfire and quakes... I'm starting to wonder if I should move away altogether - the south of France sounds decent, maybe north of italy ? ;-) F this S.

Tornadoes are bad pookie, but they hit a very small area. The total devastation like the one above is just blocks from full civilization. Hospitals, electricity, water and most important, the help of the community.
Hurricanes can wipe entire coastal area of over many thousands of acres, and make it impassable to all rescue except helicopters, several hours or days later. Like earthquakes wipe out huge area. Japan is likely at the lead of earthquake resistant building and the last monster quake shook them like toys, and then threw in a tsunami as a bonus. Floods kill more humans than any other disaster. There is no place that is disaster proof. Even living in tornado alley I have only seen one tornado close to my house, and it was 1.5 miles away and did not even make my electricity go out.

I think dual tropical storms create the right conditions for a Sharknado to form, just sayin

Sharknado . Yikes!
The carabean and Gulf of Mexico is a vast area right in the heart of a major hurricane zone, so having storms there in the season is not surprising. Even after the brush with Micheal two years ago. I'm trying to not get to concerned till one is actually bearing directly down on our immediate area. Then Ill pack up my motorhome and get out of dodge. Otherwise it's too much stress. A week or so ago when the heat wave started out west, I was about to post a chiding joke to our So cal Pelicans about the perfect weather in Califorina we are always being told about. But now with all those terrible fires all over the state it's no joking matter. I'm hoping the best for those affected and that rains will come to improve the situation for them. The Derecho that swept thru Iowa last week was widely devastating. There seems to be natural risks in most areas. Fires, earthquakes, hurricanes, flooding, tornadoes, what ever nature chooses to throw at us. We just need to pull together and find ways to help each other thru the disasters and their aftermaths. Cheers Richard |

The models are now converging
One model shows the first storm going to Houston and the second storm getting sucked in behind. The other model shows the first storm hitting Houston, the second hitting NOLA, and the second storm sucks the first storm back across Houston... Revenge of Fujiwhara

I'm starting to feel a bit less philosophical about this second storm now.
It's looking to be heading to the west of us, but some of the spaghetti strands are laying right over us. Allready been having a lot of rain here so the ground is nearly saturated now. Really its NOLA and Tex that are more in its likely path. Cheers Richard |

I always felt bad for the good people in Houston. It's such a miserable place to visit, can't imagine living there. If only a hurricane could wash away the bad people, like Sylvester and Ocifervedo.

Look at Windy’s forecast for the second one when it crosses over the east coast Back into the Atlantic next weekend. I don’t see how it will retain that much strength.
