We have been suffering with heat and smoke from 2 fires one to the north and then a fire at Lake Piru.

Piru is under control and they're getting a grip on the Lake Fire but this shyte sucks.

Good luck guys, hopefully we get some relief.

there was a lone cyclist in full spandex riding right down the middle of HWY 1. he really wanted a good workout. he rode right down the fire.

My son’s wedding ceremony was supposed to take place at the Russian River tomorrow. The place was evacuated last night. Good thing we have a Plan B.

This is going to be one long fire season. Last year it ran into November.

We didn’t need insurance because it was a campground wedding ceremony.

My little boy is 30 y/o now, T.

A few weeks back, we went up to the Kern for a big of river play with the family. Got talking to the ranger and was told the fire season is going to be out of control. Absolutely no fires in any of the campsites. Being the nosy dude that I am he explained the situation to us. CV19 had stop people from crossing the border so there's a shortage of young Mexican men who cut and clear brush for the fire season. He claims no one wants that job, so they had to hire out. The go home at the end of fire season. Interesting. I heard flash flood warning around your area Craigster all the way up to Ventura. Stay safe and stay cool you guys.

Steve, I always you were in your mid 40s. Now you have a 30 year old son? What, you had him at 12?

Real shame all that money wasted on building a super train.
Could have been used to build a super wild fire fighting force for the state.

Plan B

Son’s wedding ceremony in my backyard. The wind from the west is helping push the smoke away from us. The photographer said he’d edit out the smoke from the wedding pictures.

Most of the seaside West Coast was historically covered in redwoods/conifers due to dew.
The tall trees caught the water vapor and fed themselves when growing together.
Fires were once used to clear some inland areas for game by the original native people.
Redwoods used, and needed, fire to reseed.

That has all changed. I hope someday a future society will bring that back.

I would leave the smoke in the wedding pictures if it were me. I would want to remember it as it was, rather than as I wish it would have been.

fire started yesterday near groveland which is about 25 miles as the crow flies from me, but the mandatory evac orders are within 15 miles as of last night. final report from last night was 2500 acres with zero containment. scariest thing is they reassigned the 4 tankers fighting the fire late yesterday afternoon elsewhere due to smoke affecting their visibility to the point they could not fly.. the smoke was from all the fires not just the one they were fighting.
